@kellytx2 Parents are same age. Mom does have dementia. Have 8 sibs. Myself and 2 others are RNs. My younger sibs insisted they go to assisted living. I and another nurse suggested care giver with our support. Nope. Sad. The deterioration in 1 yr is horrible. The fam is fractured
Parents are 85 and 92 and still living in their home, but I’m really starting to worry about them.
I want to gently introduce assisted living, more safety, good meals, social activities, and less daily stress but I know they’ll resist.
How did you successfully talk to your parents about this transition? Any tips or approaches that worked? Grateful for advice.❤️
@PelicanatAnchor@kellytx2 This! There are good places out there. So many comments here makes me wonder if people even do any research into facilities at all.
My sister and I told dad we hear too many stories of seniors falling and taking days to die and how horrifying that would be TO US. I do believe that broke through to him. 2.5 years later he keeps telling us how happy he is that he decided to make the move. He just turned 94 and is much healthier now than the last five years in his house.
@kellytx2 Today, a young couple who made the heartbreaking decision to terminate a pregnancy got destroyed, yet we are perfectly fine handing our elderly parents over to others to care for them because they are a burden.
MAHA Tip of the Day:
Walk barefoot on grass, dirt, or sand for 10-20 minutes daily to ground yourself & reduce inflammation through electron transfer.
Your sleep deepens, pain eases, & cortisol normalizes faster than most supplements ever could.
Will you try it?

This is Todd “Let’s Roll” Beamer, who died heroically while trying to retake United Flight 93 from Al Qaeda terrorists on 9/11. His final resting place, is in Cranbury, NJ — where he was living with his wife and children before his murder. Cranbury is located in NJ-12, where the new Democratic nominee for Congress is Adam Hamawy.
Hamawy was a close associate and translator to Omar Abdel-Rahman, aka the ‘Blind Sheikh,’ an arch terrorist convicted of masterminding multiple plots against targets in NYC — including the World Trade Center. Hamawy testified at Adbel-Rahman’s trial, as a defense witness.
It has also been reported that Hamawy traveled to Bosnia to volunteer at an organization that was later unmasked as an Al Qaeda front group.
One of Hamawy’s loudest and most high-profile supporters and endorsers has openly declared that America deserved the 9/11 attacks.
Hamawy is now the prohibitive frontrunner to represent Todd Beamer’s district in the United States Congress.
@YakYak_Actual@AbbyHasIssues But if YOU are 15 mins late for your appt, you will immediately be rescheduled and billed a no-show fee. Make it make sense.
@AbbyHasIssues And you’re not going to go back to the exam room until 15 mins after your scheduled appointment….and the doctor will then be another 40 mins late.
Please arrive at your appointment 15 minutes early so you can fill out the same forms you filled out online and then be asked the same questions when the doctor actually sees you.
@ThrillaRilla369 Do you want to know what I was doing as a 10 year old in the 80s? I was babysitting 2 kids (infant and toddler) after-school for 4 hours by myself. Shit, if I was home alone at 10, chances are I was cleaning the house, cooking, running around the neighborhood on my bike.
The last time Justin pitched for the Toledo Mud Hens was in 2015 and a literal dinosaur delivered the first pitch.
Tonight, he’s back, and he’s the dinosaur delivering the first pitch
My granddad is the best person i know
At 11, he tried a cig and didn't like it and never smoked since
At 18, he was on the verge of death from sepsis when his mom's friend's husband, a long haul Aeroflot pilot, brought penicillin back from the US. When the antibiotics started working, the doc told his mom - don't cry, he might even live up to 40
At 21, he got a degree in nuclear physics, but wasn't allowed to work in the industry due to weakened health. He found himself in the Soviet space programme
At 26, he sent Sputnik to space, a few weeks before he had his first child
At 32, he made the discovery of the Earth's plasmasphere
At 60, he learnt English because the iron curtain had fallen and he could travel to the international space conferences. He needed to write and present in English
At 70, he would fight me for the dial-up internet as I wanted to chat to online friends, while he needed to send some work emails from home
At 85, he visited me in London and went to the British Museum five days in a row. One of the days we were having afternoon tea, and he exclaimed: "I'm so lucky! Had I not lived to this age, I would not have seen Amenkhotep III statue and had these wonderful scones at the Ritz"
At 90, he was the only person in my family who said I must absolutely take the opportunity to work in crypto
At 94, he still was still co-authoring scientific papers. And this hasn't stopped yet
Yesterday, he turned 95
Happy birthday granddad 😊
Photos have leaked of Barack Obama's Statue at his Presidential Library, it looks EXACTLY like you'd expect 🤣
He reportedly also requested it be built by a black sculptor — look how that turned out.
The entire Presidential Center has been a DEI nightmare:
-Gave contracts to "diverse suppliers"
-Hired DEI construction workers
-Costs exploded from $350M to $830M
-Fighting a $40M racial discrimination lawsuit — filed by one of his own DEI hires
You really can’t make this stuff up.
