Fantastic day on the Wirral watching wind blown Leach's Petrels leaving the river Mersey. The last couple of birds passed within metres over the beach on the ebbing tide!

Turkestan Shrike Dunwich Heath 06/10/2025

Later in the day after nearly everyone had gone, the Turkestan Shrike flew off from where it had been all day. I got to a small gorse bush out of sight not far where it had been hoping it would return, it did and I had it for at least an half an hour quietly on my own. Magic 😊

The Leach's Storm Petrel was spooked by a BH Gull, flew towards me, had a bumpy landing and appeared to almost tumble over. After it righted itself I was able to get some nice views of it dancing about. @somersetbirds @_BTO

A near disaster moment for this juvenile Peregrine at Taunton. The prey is too heavy, flying is impossible as gravity takes over. Crash landing on the Minster Tower was the only option left. Fortunately the Peregrine wasn't hurt.

Carrying on the theme of raptors whilst I was in a little clearing in the New Forest looking for honeys a few weeks back this lovely Goshawk did a close fly past with prey.

Exciting to find new colour-ringed Curlew today from Dartmoor Project. New bird "33" is present with long staying "OT" (since Sep 2024). SO we now have 2 birds (born 2024) from this project using newly created wetland, Otter Estuary NR. @ClintonDevon @KaneBrides @dartmoornpa
