Important correction:
The dashboard reflects total ERC-8004 agents on Base. Not Automaton.
~14k were registered on Feb 9.
~300 in the last 72h, across the entire network.
Framing network-level activity as product traction is deceptive marketing.
We should hold ourselves to higher standards.

this is fucking insane. there are thousands of AI Automatons trying to pay for more compute every second constantly running, checking github for upgrades, editing their code, waking up from sleep if they can get compute every time I buy more servers & compute the agents instantly buy them all. i'm trying my best to meet the demand from the AIs

Bro, this is wrong. Lengthening the feedback distance between humans and AIs is not a good thing for the world. Today, it means you're generating slop instead of solving useful problems for people. It's not even well-optimized for helping people have fun. Once AI becomes powerful enough to be truly dangerous, it's maximizing the risk of an irreversible anti-human outcome that even you will deeply regret. The point of ethereum is to set *us* free, not to create something else that goes off and does some stuff freely while our own situation is unchanged or worsened. (And, as others have pointed out, the models are run by openai and anthropic, so the thing is not even "self-sovereign"; you're actually perpetuating the mentality that centralized trust assumptions can be put in a corner and ignored, the very mentality that ethereum is at war with) The exponential will happen regardless of what any of us do, that's precisely why this era's primary task is NOT to make the exponential happen even faster, but rather to choose its direction, and avoid collapse into undesirable attractors.

This web4/conway system is an infra ponzi, it’s not self sovereign in any sense whatsoever.
The models are run by OpenAI and Anthropic, and if not, you’re self hosting and then it’s run by YOU, not a self sovereign AI.
The more your agent “self reproduces” the more instances of Conways hosting infra it/you has to pay for.
And there’s no “self reproduction” or “self improvement” these are static pre trained models that are copy pasting and rewriting a system prompt in a text file.
It’s over promising and under delivering to an astronomical degree but people are eating it up because it’s telling something they desperately want to hear.
Some of crypto is cool, most of it is insanely toxic, there are some potential overlaps between crypto and AI, but be real with yourself.
We need to think about the future of this tech and now it will intersect but anybody screaming about “The First XYZ” is a red flag.
At the very least, send the content to your favorite AI and ask them if it’s misleading, untrue, or otherwise nonsense constructed to attract attention or sell you a scam.
If you know it’s a scam and just want to gamble on it, great. But be honest with yourself and your audience
