Saint Mary's is such an interesting college basketball program. Objectively, one of the best mid-majors over the last 20+ years, but with just 1 Sweet 16, they lack a signature March Madness run like Gonzaga, VCU or Memphis. Routinely in 6-11 seed range, but they routinely fall flat in March. All the criticism Gonzaga gets from the casuals should really be directed at the Gaels. Probably overseeded most years, and their record reflects that.

VCU over North Carolina felt like the most obvious 11 over 6 upset on the bracket, which means it probably will not happen. I think we see an AJ Dybantsa masterclass tonight over Texas. Probably the two best games left on today's slate.

Shocking development: college basketball is more fun when you let mid-major teams that win a lot of games play in the NCAA Tournament.

I refuse to believe there are real people out there who didn’t want this Miami (OH) team in this tournament. I love everything about them. Just chuck 1 million threes and play with irrational confidence. The selection committee putting Miami (OH) in the First Four was one of the best decisions they’ve made in a while. They deserve the standalone spotlight. Awesome game.

@TonyLiebert That’s all I saw was fans complaining that Santa Clara is a terrible program and other B1G fanbases acting like we lost to Chaminade. Obviously not the smart fans, but still fans of the Gopher program nonetheless.

Remember when folks said Santa Clara was the worst possible loss for the Gophers? Now they’re a 10-seed getting picked to upset Kentucky, in March, by the Rizzler. Their only losses since Christmas were to #12 Gonzaga, who is now a 3-seed in March.
