@virgilernml @dolphin_dane btw under/overestimating (political) support for 🇮🇱 in Europe is besides the point I'm trying to make regarding the song's appeal to casuals, it more so reinforces the argument that Western Europe's votes for Israel are sticky (taking ad campaigns into account)

- The countries which gave 🇮🇱 2025 12 pts will repeat
- If song is more casual-friendly, then the countries that didn't give full points to 🇮🇱 2025 give slightly more each = 🇮🇱 wins
I think you might be underestimating 🇮🇱 support in Europe

Two needed changes to reduce political televoting
-Only open voting after all songs are performed. You shouldn’t be able to vote 21:15 and go to bed without watching the show
-Only allow a max of 5 votes to be given to a single country. Then you can remove the overall limit of 20

@TvtipsUk I don't think that 🇲🇹 (or any similar example) has ever had the reach and capabilities that 🇮🇱 has. People working for offshore-Israeli companies were getting emails to vote 04. Randos were getting ads of an Israeli singer telling them to vote 04 while speaking their language

If advertising had any actual impact on the results we would have had a Valletta hosted Eurovision 4 times over the last 10 years.

@virgilernml @dolphin_dane Remember that a "negative" vote is basically impossible in the PV (it's very possible in the JV) - I truly believe that if 🇮🇱 sent a song with at least similar sound, if not also staging, to 🇺🇦 2022 this year, it would have won. They would have done their ad campaign anyway.

@TripleLTA @dolphin_dane Israel keeps playing it safe with female emotional ballads because it’s the only way to ensure they get their right wing politically motivated high televote. I don’t think they would actually be able to organically get a strong televote from casuals right now, no matter the song.

@virgilernml @dolphin_dane I agree on the "Unicorn" point, however all it takes is something like this used as the attached image to that politician/influencer's tweet:
(Note that I do understand the difference in 🇺🇦 vs 🇮🇱, however I'm still approaching both as politically-motivated hits)

@TripleLTA @dolphin_dane Just look at all the European far right politicians bragging about voting “for that beautiful artist and touching song 🇮🇱”. I doubt they would be that vocal about it with a song call Unicorn that has a dance break.

@virgilernml @dolphin_dane 🇺🇦 2022 got more points in their televote alone compared to this year's winner by sending a -mostly- upbeat song. Sure, if "Unicorn" itself was sent this year it wouldn't resonate the same, but:
Any 🇮🇱 song which would *moderately* attempt to grab casual votes: win = ESC over

@TripleLTA @dolphin_dane Israel isn’t sending a Noa Kirel type of song anytime soon. It wouldn’t work actually, because at the moment they’re playing it as “we’re going through a tragedy but keeping strong” kinda thing while sending fun poppy song would mess that narrative completely.

Catastrophe averted by 🇮🇱 not winning but these results are basically the 2nd worst scenario the EBU could wish for
And I really don't think that people would be happy realising that 90% of their country voted for 🇮🇱 or 🇺🇦 (or the war-flavour of the year)

So I think this would be a great year for increased voting transparency. I wanna see
- Each entry's televote share by country
- The backup jury votes for the semi's
- Each entry's average number of votes pr. voting phone number by country

Shockingly low YouTube view count for Israel right now. In last year Aftonbladet poll they were crushing everyone vs now. Might be a sign of lower than expected 🇮🇱 televote. #Eurovision
