@Joe_TheJeweler @lobolaneblog I completely agree. It's not a knock on the kids, it's the system. Both can be true, kids can get that 1 bag by getting paid now but could hurt their long term professional prospects by not developing due to chasing that bag.

Really happy for Tomislav! Had an up and down season but def established his value and will get a nice NIL deal wherever he lands. We have bigger financial priorities and plenty of front line talent coming in. Win-win.

@lobogabe @mdixon2003 Has the NCAA ever done anything to help the G5 schools? That answer is no. What makes you think they are going to start now? This is about more TV revenue and ticket sales. Money. To the NCAA, G5 schools don't do that.

@GeoffGrammer @JonFendler In today's collegiate world, these questions should be expected by every successful G5 coach. It's a tough question after a loss that ends your season but nothing other coaches haven't faced. I think there is a bit of overreaction by fans and some media.

@JonFendler Could be. But that's a different discussion. My point is my job. Still requires me to fight for access and ask questions. That's not to say he has to give any of it – access or answers. But I still have to do my part. And they definitely don't lineup.

@GeoffGrammer @SheBearUrsa Just my opinion here, Olen is still a little uncomfortable with all the attention that this job gets. He's spoke on it a little, mentioning that at his last job, not as many people paid attention. And that's ok! It will come with time.

UNM basketball has decided media access isn't the priority it once was, so we as when the NCAA makes them available.

I asked Eric Olen, like I did with players in the locker room about their decisions about their futures at UNM, "I'm curious when you might have a timeline on on what is next for you, and if it is with UNM next season?"
Olen: "Yeah, I don't even necessarily understand the question."
Me: "Are you planning to be the coach at UNM next season, or (will you) be talking with other teams and interviewing with other programs — is any of that going on from this point forward?"
Olen: "I misunderstood. Yeah, I'm the coach of New Mexico and I'm not going to comment on anything outside of that."

Very, very brief postgame/postseason press conference with UNM Lobos. Not sure if there will be more talking with players or Eric Olen after tonight to give readers/fans any idea on the future or if tonights (again) very short press conference was it. I did get locker room interviews with Hall, Buljan, Tenette and Howell talking about their futures and timelines. (Will post as soon as I can, but lots of writing, too) Olen said he wouldn't answer questions about his future.
