This morning I called James and congratulated him on becoming the Senate nominee. Texas is primed to turn blue and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person. This is about the future of all 30 million Texans and getting America back on track. With the primary behind us, Democrats must rally around our nominees and win. I’m committed to doing my part and will continue working to elect democrats up and down the ballot.

We’re grateful to the first responders who acted quickly to save lives, and our hearts are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected. America is praying for Austin. But there is something profoundly cynical about asking God to solve a problem we're not willing to solve ourselves. God moves and works through us. God has no other hands but our hands. We must act.

@PoojaforTexas has been an all-star in Travis County politics for years and consistently shows up for Austinites again and again. Anyone trying to spread hate about her race or her name is only exposing their own prejudice. She’s more Texan than you’ll ever be.

My heritage isn’t an insult. It’s my story. And like millions of Americans, it’s rooted in hard work, faith in this country, and service to our community. If that bothers you, that says more about you than it does about me.
