
On April 4, 1956, “Godzilla, King of the Monsters!” was released in the U.S. Telling the story of Godzilla’s raid on Tokyo through the eyes of an American reporter, it became the first Japanese film to achieve major box office success in the U.S. With four Hollywood films produced since and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earned in 2004, Godzilla has become a definitive icon of U.S.-Japan pop culture.
