Owen Cameron was located deceased earlier today, in a wooded area near Newport State Airport.
The 17-year-old was last seen on March 23. We are so grateful to everyone who shared his flyer and kept eyes open for him. This outcome is devastating. At this time, foul play is not suspected. Regardless, a young man’s life ended much too soon.
We extend our deepest condolences to Owen’s family, loved ones and community during this incredibly difficult time, and ask that our group members please respect their privacy and give them space to grieve.
Owen’s flyers will be removed from our pages and we additionally ask that all comments about him remain compassionate.
Rest in peace, Owen.

🚨COLD CASE: PAWTUCKET, RI🚨 ⚠️TW: Some details may be disturbing to readers. ⚠️ On the evening of Friday, January 31, 1947, Rita Bouchard left her Pawtucket workplace for a doctor’s appointment — it would be her final shift. The 17-year-old’s body was later discovered by a hiker along a trail that ran parallel to Ten Mile River, approximately 125 feet from a dirt road near Notre Dame Cemetery. She’d been stabbed more than 30 times and her neck was cut from ear to ear. Her body was left on top of her coat in the frigid mud. Rita’s purse, money and glasses were missing, but the wristwatch still on her arm told detectives this was not a robbery gone wrong. A lack of blood and clean shoes suggested Rita was killed elsewhere and dragged to the area where she was left, partly hidden behind thick brush. Without her purse, detectives were unable to immediately identify her. Rita’s uncle heard a radio broadcast describing the woman who was found and later identified the victim as his young niece. After an exhaustive search, detectives located a knife believed to be the murder weapon and a man suspected of being involved in Rita’s killing. Due to inconsistencies in his story, he was never charged. There were other reported assaults of women in the area around the time Rita was slain — could her death have been related? In 2019, now-retired Dt. Sue Cormier reopened Rita’s case. To date, it has not been solved. Rita was known as a quiet, timid, hardworking young woman who was devoted to her family, especially her siblings. She had no known enemies or habits that may have contributed to her brutal death. By all accounts, she was a good person, with her whole life ahead of her, until it was selfishly stolen. It’s been over 76 years since the 17-year-old was found on that Pawtucket trail. Rita deserves justice and her family deserves answers.
