@TwinkTheory For the record I am a good case study because I am straight

@PhiloDakhel It's more fun anways. Just make sure you also read secondary literature otherwise you can fall into the pitfalls of 19th century historiography quickly.

i cannot bring myself to take "history books" with fancy, genre fiction covers seriously. no thanks. i'll be making my historical judgements from a very incomplete, hodgepodge collection of primary sources and medieval secondary sources, thank you very much.

One of the great things about developing a passion for Roman history... You will never run out of books to read.

The real question when it comes to LGBT issues is what are they? Are they straight deep down (by nature), or homosexual? If they are straight, telling them to embrace homosexuality is encouraging self-hatred, and the LGBT activist are the bigots.

@CRevolutionary1 Thelemark and Grenland was basically Congo until 1670.
English

@CRevolutionary1 You'll find that on the West coast in remote villages. Most likely it's just that people on the West coast (most fair-haired partsæ of Norway bc the Battle Axe culture probably spread along water ways) migrated over Hardangervidda into the Thelemark.
English

@CRevolutionary1 Since industrialisation in the 1820s and on the differences became less pronounced but it used to be almost comical. Elves and Hobbits type of shit.
English

@CRevolutionary1 What's really weird is that the more isolated rural mountain villages were more blonde and taller and the lowland southern villages were swarthier and stockier.
