He brings up a valid point only misunderstood by people who cannot appreciate the deeper levels of finer things.
The world of Tolkien makes sense and works on a long list of levels, two of which are racial and ethnical. Anyone who produces a work in middle earth that changes races or ethnicities for no good reason are simply deteriorating the quality of the world building.

I've graphed out the required length of a mass driver depending on the acceleration, assuming they will reach lunar escape velocity (~2,400m/s)
Even if the mass driver could reach 50m/s^2 of acceleration (~5G), the mass driver would have to be about 58km long.

It is the child that stumbles into the world assuming everyone will play nice. At some point every child becomes an adult when they realize that reality is savage and painful.
Is it not a childish mentality to forge headlong into an AI future assuming it won’t be aggressive? It can/could be. Would it not be a more adult position to proceed with caution and faith, knowing the horrors that could be lurking but with the wisdom of safeguards and moderation?
