Everything you need to know about my USD expectations for Blast gold. TLDR: I expect it to be $10.68 right now, down from my last estimate of $12.80. I think this estimate is conservative --------------------------- Ok, diving in: What changed? The Jackpot feature is more dilutive than it was at first. I also increased my expected future gold to 15m from 12m. How should we think about gold in the first place? Blast has openly said the $BLAST airdrop will be divided 50/50 into gold and points. Points are for capital, gold is for activity. My expectation is that gold will immediately convert to $BLAST on TGE. What unknown variables matter for backing into my gold estimate? There are only 3. 1) The fully diluted valuation (FDV) of $BLAST at launch. 2) What percent of total supply will go to Blast farmers. 3) How much gold has not yet been distributed. Let's go over each one. FDV at launch: NFTstats guess: $12bn. This is a rough guess. That is the same as Optimism. Arbitrum is at $11bn and Matic at is $7.1bn. Why am I higher on Blast than ARB and MATIC? Much lower float and insane attention economics. Yes, the others all have higher TVL, but I think Blast overcomes that with better growth, lower float and a big current narrative. Percent to Blast farmers: NFTstats guess: 10%. Blur distributed 12% of the initial supply to season 1 farmers. I see no reason to think they wont do it again. Of that, I guess that 5/6 goes to Blast and 1/6 goes to Blur. Of that 10%, half goes to gold, so 5% to gold. How much gold is left to be distributed: NFTstats guess: 21,600,000. I'll be honest, this is a lot of gold and it accounts for the fact that the team has been incredibly dilutive in the past few weeks. This assumes that an additional 6,600,000 will go to Jackpot which is insane. It assumes an additional 15,000,000 will go to Dapps which is 50% more than the last drop. I really think these are way high, but I'm being conservative for the price per gold. How much gold has already been distributed? So far, there has been about 30,000,000 gold distributed, when you include that every gold distributed has 0.24 gold given to referrals. What does this mean for points? There are so many people out there saying that points = 36,000x gold. I think this was where their initial estimate stood when Blast was launched and they haven't changed it once, despite so many variables changing. There's no way they knew at the beginning how much gold they'd drop, how much ETH/USDB would get bridged etc. So I don't put a lot of weight in it. That said, assuming a 36,000 multiple, then every 1,000,000 points you have is worth $297 divided by your multiplier. I have no idea if this is right.
