It seems @UKLabour is to drop pay-per-mile for the moment. #FairFuelUK has been putting pressure on the last & current Govts to not introduce this unpopular tax that'll mean motorists will pay much more than current VED alongside keeping existing Fuel Duty. Its just a cash grab!

Pay-per-mile car tax is to be delegated to local authorities in Wales. This means Welsh councils will have legal responsibility and control over roads. An anti-car Cardiff City Councillor says "they are considering new road taxes as the city is 'plagued' with cars."

New data reveals the number of people killed on London’s roads has fallen four times more than the rest of the country – showing why @MayorofLondon & @TfL’s work to make our streets safer is so important.

It’s not just the Mayor who’s making the most of jet-setting – watch how his own Deputy Mayor for the Environment, Mete Coban, defended his 40,000 air miles:

I predicted a wave of cash-grabbing anti-driver policies under Labour would become a reality once they had power. More undemocratic, pointless, ill-informed virtue-signalling punitive road user schemes are all set to burst across the UK under the misguided lie that they will make us all safer and healthier. Draconian 20mph speed limits are proven to increase emissions and congestion, take our eyes off the road and, in a 3-year Belfast University study, have seemingly little impact on crashes, casualties or driver speed. The Welsh are now returning to 30mph limits, so why is the transport minister ignoring their common sense epiphany? Behind the explosion of these selfish Left Wing tactics, such as building more LTNs and rarely used truck-sized cycle lanes, these policies will undeniably generate huge cash returns in fines to help pay for their costly Net Zero pipedream. They will also help Louis Haigh’s plans to destroy our freedom to drive. @TheSun @JackElsom thesun.co.uk/motors/3001026…

Tory transport minister @Mark_J_Harper could have done this last year but it is now way too late. Dropping pay per mile, 20mph zones and London’s ULEZ extension are welcome words from him but its just electioneering. But Sadly I am very reliably informed that @UKLabour will develop all three of these anti-driver policies when they get the keys to number 10. Along with hiking fuel duty, life for the motorist under Starmer will be miserable and costly. @reformparty_uk @ryansabey thesun.co.uk/news/28374704/…

Khan says he wants to be a Mayor for all Londoners. I urge him to actually talk to the anti ULEZ groups who simply can’t afford the tax he is unfairly imposing on them 👇

'No one should be allowed to impose a tax that hits the poorest the hardest, and that’s exactly what Sadiq Khan has done. When I realised I wasn’t going to win, I really felt for the people who had begged me to do what I could, because of the ULEZ expansion' @Councillorsuzie

More than 100 vehicles have been donated to Ukraine since March through @MayorofLondon & @TfL’s ULEZ scrappage scheme to help provide humanitarian and medical aid. Over the weekend 20 vehicles arrived in the region in a convoy organised by @BritUkrAid, with another 13 on the way.

UBER from Iraq doesn’t like Sadiq Khan and didn’t vote! He has no idea how much this is going to affect his livelihood and family so a £15.00 trip with added PPM (Pay Per Mile) will cost £30.00, good luck UBER and associated business! London is DEAD with Sadiq Khan 😡

@dsic @GBNEWS According to this the AQ has improved between 2016 to 2024, but since ULEZ expansion it hasn’t, you do the maths!

@BBCPolitics ULEZ hasn’t improved air quality or helped Londoners with the cost of living. More lies, and free school meals paid for by who? 8 years of failure and now you have another 4 to finish London. RIP London
