@FACEaccess really looking forward to meeting up with colleagues many of whom I haven’t seen in person for a long time - I’m sure this conference will be as iconic as all the others - @unisouthampton here we come.

Just wondering whether adult learners (specifically older adults) were represented in Phase 1 of the @BrilliantClub research and whether the applicability to different contexts includes providers of HE who have a large adult learner cohort #TASOCon22

Concerning that John Blake suggests you only get one shot at HE at aged 18 - we need to change the narrative and align our WP work with the lifelong learning rhetoric realising that a decision not to go to university at 18 doesn’t mean that door is closed forever #TASOCon22

#TASOCon22 John Blake making reference to special interest groups - our APP special interest group provides a forum for colleagues to come together to share issues and concerns and presents a collective voice to discuss these issues with the OFS mailto:webmaster@face.ac.uk

The OU is currently advertising for my replacement as I head off to Oxford Brookes University. This is a great opportunity for WP practitioners and strategists to join a fantastic organisation to support the delivery of our APP commitments bit.ly/3I6Zni9

Another amazing day at the Access, Participation and Success conference @access_observe focusing on disability and mental health. Take-away for me is the need to maintain the visibility of the challenges that many have faced during Covid and embed support holistically.

@access_observe listening to Dr Stephanie Mckendry talking about how HE providers can learn from the experiences of carers and care experienced to benefit all students - it doesn’t have to be a zero-sum game. @UniStrathclyde

@MartinSLewis Hi Martin, just listening to you on @thismorning. My husband owns a garage. How does the furlough rule apply if he decides to close for the wellbeing of his staff? Is he guaranteed to get the 80% reimbursed as we believe he has to pay it upfront and claim it back

Challenge of institutional processes to support the needs of adult learners based on andragogic principles little about pedagogies that recognise the often poor past experiences of education that impact upon student engagement. @OpenUniversity @HEPI_news

Part-time students often get a second class experience of HE and adult learners in particular experience a very different learning trajectory than younger 18-21 year olds @OpenUniversity @HEPI_news @access_observe
OU Access, Participation and Success@OU_APS

@OpenUniversity @HEPI_news Dr John Butcher launching the HEPI report on part-time HE at a roundtable event. Part-time HE participation is in decline, further disadvantaging students who already present characteristics of disadvantage
