Violence at home is never “private”. Violence from an intimate partner is the most common form - often endured in silence. This is preventable. ❤️‍🩹 Believe survivors 💞 Connect them to services 👦 Teach boys respect and equality 🏥 Provide survivor-centred services There’s no excuse for violence. Open the door to prevention and accountability.

Child mortality has fallen dramatically, from more than 10 million deaths in 2000 to 4.9 million in 2024, according to new estimates released today by @WHO, @UNICEF, @UN Population Division and @WorldBankGroup. However, despite the progress made, around 6,300 newborns still die every single day. The leading causes are complications from prematurity, labour and delivery, along with preventable diseases such as malaria, pneumonia and diarrhoea. Conflict, humanitarian crises and funding gaps are further undermining essential health services in many countries. Yet the solutions are well known. WHO urges governments, donors and partners to strengthen primary health care, expand immunization, improve maternal and newborn care, and ensure every child has access to good nutrition and lifesaving treatment. With renewed commitment, we can accelerate progress once again. who.int/news/item/18-0…

A child’s survival begins with their mother’s health. The earliest days carry the greatest risk, yet too many families still face them without adequate health support. The solutions exist 💡 Quality antenatal and postnatal care, and safe childbirth services can change outcomes for mothers and children alike. Governments and partners know what works. Now it’s time to fund, scale and commit to quality care for mothers and children. Learn more 🔗 bit.ly/3PbJak9

“Air space closures and shipping line congestion have decreased the volume of supplies reaching WHO’s supplies hub in Dubai. We have activated our contingency plans and are identifying alternative ports of entry to replenish the Hub. We are also working with the UAE and partners to consolidate priority cargo movements and explore the possibility of charter flights to deliver supplies to critical emergencies. We expect operations to continue, although there may be more lengthy delivery times.” - @DrTedros, WHO Director General
