I routinely block people who are party-line hacks (on both sides), groyp-slop, disingenuous, or outright liars. I do it because I will derive absolutely no benefit (entertainment or educational) from reading what people like that offer. If it makes you feel better to think you've "won," be my guest.

I've long since resigned to needing to examine situations independent of the rhetoric from this White House. The big difference between this an Iraq is the lack of a massive ground force build up.

As an Iranian, I honestly don’t understand some American’s obsession with “no boots on the ground.” I’m asking this sincerely, can someone please explain it to me? From my perspective, I would genuinely feel offended and angry if I were an American soldier or commander. They are not children. They have agency. They know exactly what they’re doing. This kind of rhetoric deeply undermines the courage, sacrifice, and greatness of American soldiers. I understand that some people say this out of genuine concern for the troops. But to me, it reveals a scared, broken, and traumatized mindset, one that is afraid to face the real world and its dangers, and that comforts itself by denying reality. In the actual world outside, dangers and threats are real. The bravest and greatest people consciously choose to go out and protect their values. I hope these people heal from the traumas of the past, and believe in the capability and strength of American soldiers, and to truly honor their sacrifices instead of constantly undermining them with fearful slogans. #ThankYouTrump‌ #IranWar‌

I'm more worried about the economic blocs. BRICS and Chinese expansion into control of critical materials is a major issue that most people do not understand the downstream consequences to. We are as economically vulnerable as we've ever been. America can not remain the primary superpower while failing to project force in our interests. Finally, the bottom line is that nuclear weapons limit our ability to intervene. Keeping them out of the hands of any caliphate is of urgent importance.

RAGING AT SUBMARINE MISINFORMATION I'm binging "The West Wing," now at season 3. Season 3 episode 1 was a big lecture about how wonderful Islam is. First episode after 9/11. A later episode featured a Seawolf submarine that "goes silent" 4000 yards off a North Korea bay. Okay, usually, the moment I see stupidity of Hollywood on submarines, I click it off. But I bit the bullet and watched. First, we are always silent. We don't "go silent." 2 - if we are loitering close to bad guys, we remain radio silent. 3 - if something goes wrong, we launch a baseball-bat sized SLOT buoy that transmits an encrypted burst comm UHF message to the overhead comms satellite. 4 - the President being surprised that the submarine is 4000 yards from shore? Listen, to go into a nation's territorial waters, you need an official directive from the President himself ordering you to penetrate the 12-mile limit. It's called an "Order to Penetrate." (No steamy jokes, please.) That order is read by the captain and XO. It is then shredded and the shreds burned. (On an unnamed submarine, the radiomen were mad at the captain and "lost" the message. The entire boat was turned upside down looking for it.) The thing is, if you are captured by the bad guys inside territorial waters, it is a violation of International Law and no way you want that directive from the President lying around. So it would be IMPOSSIBLE for the President to be surprised at the 4000 yard item. 5 - There's 12 more errors. Can't someone just fucking CALL ME when you need to make your production realistic? Please?

The outcome of the war will 100% drive public opinion. On an average year, I'd probably agree on the senate. But the map heavily favors the GOP. But, even if the Dems won control, there's zero chance they'll have the 67 seats needed for removal. But the reality is that there aren't a lot of places they can make gains.

IF boots are put on the ground, the support will plummet to the ground. The only support base Trump really has is MAGA. Independents and on the fencers are actively moving elsewhere.

The midterms are showing the same political shift they ALWAYS show. I doubt we lose the senate. The House was gone no matter what. Impeachment is happening. Removal won't, because there's no world in which we could lose the Senate by that much. We can do more than one thing at a time.
