The statements made by President Trump on Truth Social regarding the Pope were entirely inappropriate and disrespectful. They don’t contribute at all to a constructive conversation. It is the Pope’s prerogative to articulate Catholic doctrine and the principles that govern the moral life. In regard to the concrete application of those principles, people of good will can and do disagree. I would warmly recommend that serious Catholics within the Trump administration–Secretary Rubio, Vice President Vance, Ambassador Brian Burch, and others–might meet with Vatican officials so that a real dialogue can take place. This is far preferable to the statements on social media. I am very grateful for the many ways that the Trump administration has reached out to Catholics and other people of faith. It has been a high honor to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission. No President in my lifetime has shown a greater dedication to defending our first liberty. All that said, I think the President owes the Pope an apology.

Absurd and inhuman violence is spreading ferociously through the sacred places of the Christian East, profaned by the blasphemy of war and the brutality of business, with no regard for people’s lives, which are considered at most collateral damage of self-interest. But no gain can be worth the life of the weakest, children, or families. No cause can justify the shedding of innocent blood.

After 10 seasons of covering the New York Football Giants, it’s time for me to move on. I’ve loved being a part of Big Blue and watching this organization evolve over the last decade. I’ve built some incredible friendships, made lasting memories, and hope to have left a positive impact on the fan base with our content and coverage over the years. I thought you just said Christians don’t fast. Muslim: Well… I’ve never seen any Christian fasting in my life. Me: Exactly. That’s because they don’t announce it. They don’t even tell their family or friends. Jesus taught us that, fasting should be done quietly. The only time people know is during a church-wide fast, and even then it’s just the church members, not the whole public. Muslim: Hmm… how can someone fast and not show it? Look at me, I’m fasting now. I’m weak. Anyone who sees me will know. Me: That’s the difference. And funny enough, many Christians don’t eat anything at all until the time they break their fast. Muslim: What do you mean? Me: You Muslims eat early in the morning and just skip lunch. To us, that’s not really fasting. In Christianity, someone might fast for a whole week, breaking each day at 6 p.m., no food all day, and you still wouldn’t know they were fasting. Muslim: Why are the authors of the Bible anonymous, and why didn’t Jesus write the gospel? Me: That’s not the topic. Please stay on the subject. Muslim: I knew you wouldn’t answer. You people don’t even have the original Bible. Sorry for you. Me: Hello… stay on topic. We were talking about fasting. Muslim: Christians don’t fast. You people like freedom too much.
