Back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off. Didn't manage to completely unwind (Just the way I'm wired!) but looking forward to jumping back in. I will be giving a couple of talks at meetups in the next 2 months so have been mentally planning those. Need to write them down now 😀

@Dave_DotNet You wouldn't want it on every method call tho, right? Feels like it would get annoying and hinder readability in some cases.

Consider using Named Arguments in C# for improved readability of method calls 💡 Named arguments allow us to see what the constant values we are passing into a method correspond to without having to mouse over them or view the method definition. IMHO they are preferable to turning on inline hints in Visual Studio or Rider as we can see them outside the context of our IDE. The image below shows what named arguments look like, it's just an example. In this case of course it's possible to use a strongly typed class, struct, record etc. instead, note however Named arguments can also be useful when calling constructors too e.g.. -> var rectangle = new Rectangle(x: 5, y: 10, width: 20, height: 15, color: "blue"); I use Named Arguments often in my unit tests when I'm dealing with constants a lot. I've put a nice example of how they can be used to clean up our tests in the comments below as well. IMHO Named arguments give us a big readability win. What do you think? Do you use Named Arguments regularly? #dotnet

Have just created the next @dotnetoxford lighting-talk event on Meetup, and the call for speakers is now open! I'm afraid it's in-person only. It's in Oxford, UK. If you're interested, then drop me a DM :) meetup.com/dotnetoxford/e…

I know I shouldn't get frustrated but seeing bad, poor or just incorrect coding examples online really annoy me! Even more so when they are making out they are a source which should be trusted and copied!!

After a cable car to the top of the mountain, we spent a few days at an Italian AgriCampeggio - a working farm which produces their own wine, fruit, and corn, livestock. The cattle and horses I don't mind, but those free-range chickens which insist on crowing at 5am can Do one!!

Holiday mode engaged! Car full of kids and a road trip around Europe, it’s only been 2 days so far but it’s already been amazing! Calais for supplies, a day around Bruges, am overnight in rural Belgium, then lunch in Luxembourg, dinner in Deutschland, camping in the Black Forest!

All I seem to do is block spam, bots or fake accounts etc. I thought the whole point was to stop this? And I wonder why I spend less time on here now? 🤔
