Very few descend from the Ulster Scots population that was here before. And btw, there were founding fathers and early Irish settlers who were from the south like Thomas Fitzsimons.

Brits don't know this but most Americans that call themselves Irish have no idea about the political situation in Ireland and are actually descended from Ulster Scots.
When an American calls themselves Scots-irish they think it means Ireland and Scotland are the same.

Please stop attributing the protests etc in Ulster to the 'Irish'. They are not Irish, they are British people who live in Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, and the protesters etc are ethnically British (mainly Scottish).....
