It's such a painful time to be sharing anything. Honestly. If you have the space for it, in our latest paper, we delve into the invisibilized daily lives of Lebanon’s Syrian Dom community, with a particular focus on the gender-specific adversities encountered by its women. Historically nomadic, the Dom have largely ‘permanently’ settled in the MENA countries where they are based, though the Syrian conflict has displaced many to Lebanon, where they live in precarious conditions alongside other refugees. By focusing on vulnerabilities, forced labor, sexualization, protection, as well as intimate-partner and familial dynamics, we aim to offer insights into how systemic inequalities intersect with identity formation in a less-explored displacement context in Lebanon.
