Being independent - that's one great thing we can do to make Scotland fairer, greener and more successful. Be part of building this better nation.

@fergustp @Greg8535937 @staylorish Cos the UK uses one of the daftest systems going.High gas dependence, gas often setting the power price, expensive legacy contracts, grid bottlenecks, constraint payments and UK policy costs piled onto bills.High UK energy costs aren't proof wind is expensive.proof UK market's broken

1/ Yesterday, the SNP published a fact-free paper on energy which simply assumed that wind farms produce cheap electricity. Coincidentally, the Beatrice Offshore wind farm (one of Scotland’s largest) published its annual accounts yesterday, which tell us the truth about costs…

@fergustp @Greg8535937 @staylorish You’re mashing together three different things and making out they’re one number. Beatrice 2024 was old-contract revenue. AR6/AR7 are new strike prices. £80 to £85 is a 2030 whole-system estimate. Those are not interchangeable. And AR6 onshore was £50.9/MWh, not “about £100”

@YesStirling @Greg8535937 @staylorish 3) how can system costs be £80-85mwh in 2030 when we just signed contracts for £100mwh to come online in 2030? Onshore wind from AR6 will be about £100mwh, How can it drag the average price of wind from £192mwh in 2024 to less than new strike prices?

@fergustp @Greg8535937 @staylorish 4) Nuclear still needs backup for outages and big reserves for a 1.6 GW unit tripping. On a whole-system basis modern wind is cheaper than new nuclear, which is why the UK keeps using CfDs to drive more of it.

@fergustp @Greg8535937 @staylorish 3) Whole-system studies for GB that add balancing, storage and grid costs put offshore and onshore wind at roughly £80–85/MWh in 2030 with a flexible system and nuclear at about £90.

🇺🇸💩 "Jobbie" makes it to U.S. TV! Jen Psaki breaks down the Scottish protest signs aimed at Trump — including one calling his golf course “twinned with Epstein Island.” We’re exporting vocabulary and shame. Bet he wishes it was just the rain he had to dodge. ☔🍊 #JobbieWatch

🤡 Millionaire farmer, tax dodger, bawbag. Raging at Scotland scrapping peak rail fares. Cheaper trains for nurses? Too radical for a guy who bought a farm to dodge tax. England’s not subsidising us, Jeremy. So back in your clown car, you're full of more shite than your fields.

So Labour MP in Scotland believes that one settlement to Scottish Government will solve 14years of Tory austerity. But it will take the UK government 10 years to tackle the problems in England! Red/blue #NeverTrustATory
Kirsteen Sullivan MP@kittysull1

This Labour budget delivers the largest budget settlement for the Scottish Gov in the history of devolution. This money must reach frontline services, struggling families & local communities. No more excuses from the SNP gov. No more saying it wisnae me and blaming Westminster.
