Ben White clearly made an innocent mistake when walking across the Atletico Madrid crest. He's not showing a lack of respect. He’s caught up in the emotion of the occasion. Simeone father and especially son were unimpressed… #AFC 1/2

There's a reason I'll always be attracted to people like Zohran Mamdani, Jon Ossoff, Barack Obama. Very left leaning, but rational human beings. Would've mentioned Bernie Sanders but he, and he alone, brought about the advent of Trump. The selfish dweeb.

Need to send Kandake and Caesar to Florence.
Alessandro Riolo@aledeniz

I know a number of British people who lived 1 to 2 years in Italy and then came back. The constant is that they have young children. Whatever they tell you, if you ask them about the Italian school system, they will eventually admit that it was, if not the main one, one of the critical items for them. Italian primary school is much harder than the British one. An awful lot of Italian parents cope with that by literally abandoning their children to their own devices. Most take a more proactive stance, so they either start tutoring their children themselves (a couple of hours a day per child starting in year 1) or pay for tutors to do it in their stead. In primary school, British kids have homework once per week. Italian kids have homework once per day, doubled over the weekend. If you visit Italian homes in the afternoon and they have children, it is pretty standard to see the kids sitting at the main table with books and notebooks spread all around, with a parent or a tutor sitting with them for the whole session. Also, the amount of books they have to carry to school every day is borderline unbelievable. You would think they are training them to carry legionary backpacks. For people accustomed to the gentle British primary schooling, the Italian system feels borderline insane. Note also that it has massively eased up: in my childhood, we had to memorise a long poem every weekend (which back then meant Sunday, as Saturday was school day). h/t @GroovySciFi

@TheHuntingTeam @WestAfricaWeek Yes, David Hundeyin founded West Africa Weekly (launched in 2021 on Substack). He stepped back from majority ownership in Dec 2023; a board took over. They just removed him for financial irresponsibility.

Mr. Hundeyin's disengagement was due to repeated, and documented financial irresponsibility. The Board members no longer had confidence in his commitment to the core principles of WAW or in his work ethic. In due time, more communication will be made available on these issues.

If you're angry that I poached WAW's best reporters when I was leaving, you should ask yourself why they agreed to be poached. How did you treat them? How much were you paying them? You were paying a 27 year-old adult man N110,000/month ($80) to be a field reporter covering high risk stories including the Lekki Massacre memorial and an attempted undercover infiltration of a Chinese/Filipino scam call centre with armed security on Providence Way. This dude had a high risk full time job and he couldn't afford a place to stay. He was squatting with his friend while working full time as a investigative reporter! You couldn't even be nice to him, which costs nothing. Everyday insult upon query, to the point that he was already planning to submit his resignation, even before finding another job. When I made him an offer that came with a living wage and the promise of being treated like an actual human being with feelings, why wouldn't he jump ship? What pull factors were present to make him want to stay put? Isn't he somebody's child too? What effort did you make for WAW to be a non-toxic workplace? Or were you in fact, a pompous bunch of awful diasporans who thought they had a god given right to treat Nigerian locals as cheap labour trash, because of the small $5 you make in America? Did you regularly mock and belittle your employees to their hearing, making jest of their financial status or lack of travel? Now that I took the best talent with me and we're flying in our new project, and your organisation has clearly crumbled into a rotting mess that will soon be worth nothing, you're busy throwing tantrums, acting drama and telling lies on the TL about "David was disengaged" and "financial irresponsibility" - exactly how "irresponsible" it was mathematically possible to be while essentially working with a zero budget, nobody has explained. Enjoy your meme replies and retweets from the sub-3-digit IQ morons but remember that as always, in exactly 5 working days, none of the idiots you are performing for will remember any of this, and you will be back to being a group of clueless, pompous asshats who don't know their ass from their elbow, running a forgotten platform that only ever had any relevance because of its attachment to me. Your eba is cold. You should warm it.

The Claude Code leak saga just keeps getting crazier. Anthropic filed a DMCA to kill 8,100 GitHub repos. GitHub nuked the entire network within hours including forks that had zero leaked code. The head of Claude Code had to personally go on X to apologize. Then someone did a clean-room rewrite in Python before sunrise. DMCA cannot touch a clean-room rewrite. It hit 50K stars in 2 hours, which is the fastest repo in GitHub history. Today it officially launched as claw-code with a formal press release. → More stars than Anthropic's own repo → A Rust port already shipped release 0.1.0 The company that built its entire brand on AI safety accidentally shipped 512,000 lines of source code in a public npm package. And now the open-source version is more popular than the original. Crazy.

do you understand what just happened? Anthropic has sent this email to Claude users starting tomorrow at 12pm PT… you can no longer use your subscription limits for third-party tools like OpenClaw here's what it means: → your flat rate Pro or Max subscription now only covers Claude's own products… Claude Code, Cowork, and claude(.)ai → third-party tools that connect via OAuth will require "extra usage"… a separate pay as you go bill on top of your subscription → this starts April 4 with OpenClaw but applies to all third-party harnesses going forward → to soften the blow… Anthropic is offering a one time credit equal to your monthly subscription price. redeem by April 17 → they're also introducing pre-purchase bundles with up to 30% discount on extra usage → you can still use OpenClaw with your Claude account. this isn't a ban. it's a billing change. API key access is unaffected here's what actually happened behind the scenes… users were running $1,000-$5,000 worth of agentic workloads through a $200/month Max subscription by routing through third-party tools that's like buying an all you can eat buffet pass and feeding your entire office through the door with it Anthropic's systems were getting crushed. the email literally says "these tools put an outsized strain on our systems" so it appears the $200/mo AI max plan arbitrage era is officially over... if you're running OpenClaw or any third-party harness on Claude… → turn on extra usage billing before 12pm PT tomorrow to keep things running → or switch to API keys instead of OAuth → grab that free credit before April 17 this was always coming: the math never worked for Anthropic at flat rate pricing with unlimited third-party access the real question now is what this means for every open source tool built on top of Claude's subscription layer the ecosystem just got a lot more expensive overnight

Starting tomorrow at 12pm PT, Claude subscriptions will no longer cover usage on third-party tools like OpenClaw. You can still use these tools with your Claude login via extra usage bundles (now available at a discount), or with a Claude API key.

J. Cole criticizes streaming systems and the way people consume music nowadays: “What I don't like right now is like, yo, you pay your $15 a month or your $10 a month. You got every f***ing song in the world. We already undervaluing all the songs in the world. But then, uh, an album drops, a conversation happens. You don't even give a f*** about this artist. You never loved this artist. You don't even really care about the genre. You're not educated in the genre and the space. You just see a conversation happening and you wanna be a part of the conversation. So now let me go listen to such album at 12 o'clock or the next day. I didn't do no work to actually get to this album and to having an opinion. If I didn't like an album when I bought that shit on CD, guess what, n****? I got the right to not like this because I spent $15.99. That's right. I got the right and now I can have a conversation with somebody else that spent their $15.99. If you didn't spend $15.99, you can't even talk to me about this album. We can't have a conversation. You didn't do the work. You didn't make any type of investment. Now, you don't love this n**** you just listened to his album. You don't even like this person. But, but to be a part of the conversation and to have an opinion, let me go listen to this shit. There's no barrier of entry for anyone to experience the music. And live with it. So, what I was trying to make was like, back in the days, I feel like they only had the option of listening with their heart. They didn't have any social media runs to talk to. They buy the record. They put the record on. My, my parents was in the army, so they would buy the records, take it back to the barracks, put it on. They probably have a gathering of people listening to this shit. They party. It's like what's the party experience. It's a heart. There's no like, they didn't sit around and go, Yo, I really think he could have shaved off five songs. Sonically. Sonically, I really thought he would have went a different direction”. 🔗 instagram.com/reel/DWjdFy0DA…
