@big_duca Direct File was great. I used it, and everyone I knew who used it, loved it. More people didn't use it because it wasn't advertised that much, and eligibility to use it was not as wide yet since they were still working on expanding it to cover more cases.

@DavidRhodus The IRS did build something to help with this (it cost a lot of money bc gov is bad at allocating). But no one used it so they got rid of it. I don't think having the gov build the tools is the solution basically (doesn't mean there aren't other solutions tho)

I feel like an open source version of TurboTax should be created. Might be possible bc of AI now. Been thinking about this quite a bit.

I remember when I went to the Austin premiere of The Whale, Aronofsky came on stage for a Q&A after the film ended. He wore skinny jeans, a turtleneck, and small round sunglasses. When asked how he adapted the play to the screen, he said that, in the play, the couch was against the wall. He realized he could make it cinematic by bringing the couch into the middle of the room so that actors could walk behind the couch.

@toughcustomer2 It's good. I'm not sure if you would like it since I have no idea what your preferences are. If you do give it a chance, be prepared to see some sad scenes, and I would suggest not eating while watching it. Won't spoil why.

@janusfilms Is there any chance it will play in any other theaters in northern IL? The Gene Siskel Theater had it but I missed it. 😭 I was hoping it would play in Rockford or Naperville or Schaumburg. Or if you could bring it to DeKalb, IL somehow. 🥺

Rob Reiner was a lovely man. I spoke to him last night for over an hour. I always enjoyed his company. I met him at his Dad's in 1975. He was telling me about fiming at Stonehenge and his thoughts for the future. This is so awful. I shall miss him. A clever, talented and very thoughtful man. So awful.

@MixedMambaJamba I probably wouldn't drive there. I like taking public transportation. That's what I did when I went to SF. I mostly wanna go because of all the movie-related things (Academy Museum, some indie movie theaters with cool events).

@_HiddenPlans LA is a lot different than you’d think, if you’re expecting some pinnacle example of a societal bubble. Easy to navigate if you don’t struggle to read while driving at least the speed limit on the freeways. Saw a lot of stuff there though, I enjoyed it.
