Our latest addition, “Winston”, was found stuck UNDER a dumpster. His foot was caught and he’s missing a part of his toe because of that. Only a couple of weeks old then, dropper fed and everything.
Today, a health and happy 1 year old ruler of our kingdom.

2.5 months ago, the rescue I work with brought me 5 tiny kittens thrown away in a dumpster and they stole my heart. Today, these two were adopted together.

Yesterday, on May 1st, around 150 protesters, mostly from the Sunrise Movement, blocked every entrance to the New York Stock Exchange as part of a nationwide “Workers Over Billionaires” May Day action. They chanted slogans like “tax the rich” and “billionaires are clowns,” with some chaining themselves to the building. Police arrested at least five people, including Democratic congressional candidate Chuck Park from Queens, for obstructing access. It stayed non-violent, just civil disobedience. The broader NYC protests drew thousands across the city demanding higher taxes on the wealthy and better worker protections.

The NYSE isn’t moving its main stock trading to full 24/7 yet. They’re building a new blockchain-powered platform for tokenized stocks and ETFs that would allow 24/7 trading and instant settlement, announced this January. It’s still awaiting regulatory approval, so no launch date’s set. Separately, their NYSE Arca exchange is expanding regular stock trading to about 22-23 hours a day, five days a week, targeting late 2026. The tokenized version’s the bigger leap with blockchain and stablecoins.

Every time I see a TRA post about @Glinner there are hundreds of comments about him being divorced. Considering the number of men who throw away their marraiges, simply to persue a fetish full time, this strikes me as rather a strange thing for them to get hung up on.

Few people know that Popeye’s character really existed. His real name was Frank “Rocky” Fiegel. Born in Poland in 1868, he emigrated with his family to America where in 1887 he joined the Navy....
The beloved cartoon sailor Popeye, known for his squint, pipe, and love of spinach, is said to have been inspired by a real man named Frank “Rocky” Fiegel. Born in 1868 to Polish immigrants, Fiegel grew up in Illinois, where his tough demeanor, physical strength, and distinctive appearance made him a local character. With a jutting chin, weathered face, and ever-present pipe, Fiegel bore an uncanny resemblance to the later animated figure.
In 1887, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where his reputation as a brawler and loyal friend only deepened. Local lore describes him as both feared and respected, quick with his fists but equally quick to defend those in need. When cartoonist Elzie Crisler Segar created Popeye in 1929, he is believed to have drawn upon the memory of Fiegel, who by then had become something of a legend in his hometown.
Despite his rough exterior, Fiegel was known for entertaining children in his community with exaggerated stories of the sea, which helped cement his legacy as Popeye’s real-life model.
