This is one of the reasons I get frustrated with some Yoruba Christians when they repurpose traditional praise songs for Yoruba deities and present them as Christian songs.
How can “Ologun l’Oluwa, Ologun l’Oluwa, Oluwa ni oruko re, Ologun l’Oluwa” be considered a Christian song?
Ogun refers to war, What war did Jesus ever fight that justifies using this song of praise for him?

Even if two people are from the same Yoruba culture or background, stupid people and their religious leaders believe they shouldn’t get married if they don’t practice the same religion.
We’ve never been this stupid as a group of people. I fear for the future.

In all honesty, i wish religion can be eradicated in Nigeria. The concept of religion has done a lot of harm to us and it has separated us from each other.

I went to fix something in Ibadan yesterday. What I thought would be quick ended up taking hours. Then someone sent me an annoying voice note, and I got pissed, I replied with Yoruba insults. After I sent it, the guy I was working with said: “Egbon, e gbo Yoruba le wa n damu mi, gbogbo ona ofun ti n ta mi.” Meaning I can speak Yoruba well and I was stressing him out, his throat was hurting from trying to keep up with me in pidgin. I almost died laughing when he said that 😭🤣 Everyday conversations with guys are usually in pidgin, I didn’t even realize some people don’t understand it at all.

That’s how some religious leaders go around telling family men to sell their land, cars, or houses to serve the Lord and wait for Him to do something even greater. Then those people just become poorer and poorer. Well, it’s not a sin once it’s considered a gift, lol. You will hardly find a religious leader come out and say, ‘This possession was paid for by me.’ It’s always presented as a gift, so the followers don’t feel exploited.
