@a2_peter I would say that the experience of her parents can influence her, as can her current status as one of the most privileged people in the world. You seem to think that her current status is irrelevant, while her parents status is extremely relevant.

@DAnalogArsonist It is neither absurd nor ridiculous to believe that CM Song's background as a child of AAPI refugees inspires and informs her compassion for the disadvantaged in a profound way.

@a2_peter I would say that Song's current status of billionaire is much more relevant than the experiences of her parents. I'd say that questioning the level of compassion is pointless, but also Song doesn't need to work for the rest of her life while other CMs (current and former) do.

@DAnalogArsonist CM Song's background as a child of AAPI refugees is certainly relevant to evaluating former-CM Nelson's claim that Song's compassion for the disadvantaged is mere posturing (and that it would be absurd and ridiculous to disagree with her).

@a2_peter I don't agree with Nelson's conspiracy theory. That being said, why are you bringing up Song's parents? That couldn't be more irrelevant to the topic. Am I above criticism (false or not) because my grandparents were refugees?

Usually when #A2Council comes back from closed session, they just advance toward adjournment, but sometimes they open the agenda and approve a legal settlement or whatever.
