Well done @unicefchief! Direct payment of salaries to Afghan teachers & other public servants is the only way to avert sure collapse of health, education, water-supply, electricitry etc in Afghanistan. @WorldBank and UN must cover all sectors like this. reut.rs/3q134iW

“Taliban bans foreign currencies” This isn’t as large an issue as it first seems. Taliban are doing this because: - There is limited foreign currency in the country - They want to promote the use of local currency Tough to enforce, in any regard bbc.com/news/business-…

I was responsible for TAPI in Afghanistan since 2015 The project won’t move forward for many reasons, one of which is that the TAPI “I” no longer has interest

FWIW, the Taliban has endorsed TAPI since 2016, even as it blew up all kinds of other infrastructure. Due to ongoing financing constraints, it’s unlikely TAPI will be completed anytime soon even if security improves. Mujahid’s statement sounds good but ultimately means little.
