@acethecrow3 when you can afford the monthly without being broke it’s an option. comes out to about half our income, but with our lifestyle it’s the right choice. i know others that don’t have 4 dogs and if i was in that position i’d just buy a condo for way less lol

@aarondotdev So what's your opinion on the fear mongering happening on twitter on the positions related to swe being vanished into thin air in the upcoming future?

@aarondotdev Have you tried pinning specific versions in your config? That's saved me from many update headaches. Though I admit it's annoying to need that level of config for a desktop app.

omarchy feels really nice but i highly recommend NOT updating. every time i update some other stuff breaks and now my waybar dies every day, recording/screenshot feature breaks, random little bugs but pretty annoying to deal with when i just want to get work done.

@hzapperz lots of apps also need to have 4-7 9s of availability- AWS, turbotax, etc. this is part of the reason github is rolling back AI coding mandates, they are down to a single 9 (92.xx%) uptime

@aarondotdev I haven’t opened cursor in a few months… Albeit it’s not a very large buisness, it’s a web app for a service so not a lot goes into it. Your sentiment holds true for things of proper scale.

yeah let me just trust opus 4.6 with auto-accept. it's not like it's CONSTANTLY still hallucinating. LLMs produce syntactically correct looking code. they do NOT understand the code. that is fundamentally how they work. if you think otherwise, you likely have LLM psychosis.

Theory: We don't let LLMs control robots and operate freely in the physical world (yet?) because they'd fall all the time, break everything, and cause massive damage. But in software the falling and the massive damage are invisible, so it's fine. x.com/sama/status/20…
Sam Altman@sama

I have so much gratitude to people who wrote extremely complex software character-by-character. It already feels difficult to remember how much effort it really took. Thank you for getting us to this point.

@hzapperz exactly- little tweaks here and there. but the big names are all saying you don't need to read the code and you can automate generation + PR reviews. add those all together and you can't even fake stability at scale
