@GlobalWresOrder I don't like Iowa, like a lot. Before this season, the only positive I had to say about them is there fanbase is cool in person(never been to Carver) Post-season comes and all of a sudden I'm rooting for a few of their dudes. None moreso than Gabe, though.

@dbeshada1 And you weren't saying this either, but physical gifts aren't distributed equally. Mikey White comes to mind. From the admittedly little I've watched him, he's grown technically at an astronomical rate, but I've also never seen him wrestle a guy who can match his athleticism

@acaleb26 And, if you have the goals and the courage (I’m assuming most D1 guys do), but not the right training situation, then you likely won’t reach them. That’s not the issue being debated here, though. Rather, the issue here is whether D1 programs develop athletes.

If you think Sergio Vega could have beaten Jesse Mendez a year ago, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell ya. Ditto for Starocci being a 5-timer coming out of high school. Or, Christopher Minto making the NCAA finals as a sophomore. Those are just 3 examples…

@dbeshada1 I mostly agree with you. What I disagree with was the "top tier" part that you responded to. "Top tier" programs certainly do, but so does everyone else. There are just so many reasons guys don't develop and I think it has more to do with distraction, injury, etc than location

@dbeshada1 And don't come at me about it requiring courage. Go wrestle a D1 guy for 15 min and tell me fear and doubt don't come flooding in your mind. It takes a just little more than 15 minute goes

@dbeshada1 From where I'm sitting, it looks like it has more to do with the wrestler than anything else. A better training situation is still huge, but if you don't have the goals and the courage to chase them, it doesn't matter where you are.
