President Droupadi Murmu confers Arjuna Award, 2023 on Ms Sheetal Devi for her achievements in Para Archery. She has won:
● Three gold medals and one silver medal in the 4th Para Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China in 2023.
● One silver medal in the World Para Archery Championship held in Pilsen, Czech Republic in 2023.

Why is the cash incentive in J&K for National Games medal 🥇 less than any other state / UT of India??

Why can’t our sports policy be like other #states where there is a proper categorisation of Olympic sports (high priority sports) Sports in asian games (priority) and then indigenous. This is an example from the sports policy of Delhi.

@OfficeOfLGJandK I became the first ever senior national (kyorugi) and national games qualifier and medalist from j&k in taekwondo but our authorities are busy praising non Olympic sports.

@OfficeOfLGJandK Our scholarship for national championship and national games is same as per jk sports policy. When other states have no less than 5 lakhs for national games , in our state gold in national and national games is 50k.
And not even a single appreciation post from council.

@OfficeOfLGJandK Yet only few medals in Olympic sports . It is because our sports authorities haven’t categorised Olympic and non Olympic sports. Our sports policy is a joke where national games and national championship are in same category. Please make policy like other states.

J&K’s #Sports policy is a joke. If they can’t make a proper sports policy, they should copy from other states like Haryana , Uttrakhand , Delhi , Rajasthan and others.

It is a complete disrespect to all the Athletes who are working hard towards their goal.

Very sad to see that there is zero appreciation from the UT sports authorities and there is no categorisation of #Olympic and #nonOlympic sports. Our sports policy is a joke where #nationalchampionship and #nationalgames have been put in the same category.

Afreen Hyder (@afreenhydertkd) has won the first-ever senior silver medal for Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (JK-UT) in Kyorugi, a full-contact sparring discipline, in the history of J&K Taekwondo.
