you probably dont fully understand how serious this Claude Code leak is
> code copyright law has been stable since the 80s
> you cannot legally copy or fork someone's code without permission (licenses)
the caveat is a "clean room" build - start from scratch by people who have never seen the code. it takes too long to build a product from scratch, so it wasn't usually a problem
> enter codegen
> anyone with a Claude Max plan can "clean room" rebuild any repo just by pointing the agent at the tests
> a few months ago, opensource repos started close-sourcing their tests
> a codegen rebuild has never been challenged in court > the legal precedent would have the potential to decimate the concept of Open Source forever
SO
> last night
> claude code leaks
> Sigrid Jin "clean room" rebuilds claude code in Python
> names it Claw-Code
> Reminder: Anthropic sued the last open source tool that used a funny "claw" name
Now?
> Anthropic has the potential to sue this project and put all of software licensing and copyright law into question
> Anthropic might allow corporate greed to effectively put an end to opensource software
> Anthropic's corporate greed might forever kill the software community as we know it today
...
now that you know how serious it could be, the best thing we can do is pressure anthropic to let it go

Airbnb CEO @bchesky says more AI founders should be starting consumer businesses.
"I'm on the board of Y Combinator. 87% of companies are enterprise companies per batch."
"Enterprise is awesome... but the biggest prize is consumer. That is what's going to reach daily life for billions of people."
"Think about all the little parts of daily life that are kind of annoying. Pay attention to whoever's in your life and ask: 'How could their daily life be a little bit easier?'"
From his appearance on the show in January.

My dear front-end developers (and anyone who’s interested in the future of interfaces):
I have crawled through depths of hell to bring you, for the foreseeable years, one of the more important foundational pieces of UI engineering (if not in implementation then certainly at least in concept):
Fast, accurate and comprehensive userland text measurement algorithm in pure TypeScript, usable for laying out entire web pages without CSS, bypassing DOM measurements and reflow

I'm returning to YC!
@ycombinator has been dream since I was 18.
I grew up in North Carolina as the son of a doctor. As a kid, I knew nothing about the world of tech or startups. California was something that only existed in movies and punk songs.
But in 2014, everything changed for me.
I spent the summer at Dev Bootcamp, a San Francisco-based web development bootcamp. That's when I first learned about YC.
Dev Bootcamp changed the trajectory of my life for the better. I finally found something I was good at - and something I was truly passionate about. Everyone at "DBC" was obsessed with Y Combinator, Hacker News, and YC startups like Gusto and Instacart. For years afterwards, it was my dream to found my own YC-backed startup.
In 2021, that dream came true - but not in the way I hoped. My roommate Justin Ko and I were admitted to YC S21 to build Opkit, a healthcare voice AI company. S21 was great, but it wasn't the full YC experience: due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the batch was fully remote.
When I set out to build @sazabi, the AI-native observability platform for fast-moving engineering teams, I never considered going back to YC.
But I reconsidered after having a conversation with @aaron_epstein, my friend and one of Opkit's partners from the S21 batch. Aaron helped convince me that YC was the best way to accelerate Sazabi's growth - and it didn't hurt that I would finally get the YC experience I had wanted for so long!
Today, I'm proud to announce that Sazabi is joining the YC P26 batch, due to start on March 30th.
We're excited to meet our batchmates, learn from them, and hopefully give back to this community that I love so much.
See you on Demo Day!
