Gemini 3.0 didn’t quite work out and most of us are still stuck with 2.5 Sometimes I don’t get it - what’s preventing Google from ditching all the side hustles and training 100 models from 100 teams in parallel Pick the model/team combination that produces a decent model! That way, they will at least stay in the AI race 😅

@wholemars I know we all want it.... If it was supposed to be so slow roll out considering 6 months since rollout and if they need to go and do testing in all new cities for 6+ months before a proper commercial launching, then definitely there is a limited edge and waymo is ahead

A lot of people are focused on when Tesla will catch up to Waymo, which is fair given that Waymo has thousands of driverless cars and Tesla only has a handful. But not enough people ask “When will Waymo catch up to Tesla?” 1. When will Waymo be able to take me on a coast to coast drive? 2. When will I be able to buy a Waymo? 3. When will Waymo cross 8 million cars that can run their software? 4. When will Waymo be able to work with no geofencing restrictions? My contrarian take is that it’s a lot easier for Tesla to catch Waymo than for Waymo to catch up to Tesla.

“The Macrohard project probably be our most important project because what we're talking about is emulation of entire human companies. So when you look at the most valuable companies in the world, they are... their output is digital. So they don't actually make hardware. So it should be possible to completely emulate any company where the output is digital. And this will usher in an age of prosperity the likes of which we can barely imagine at this point. You need to imagine to imagine it. So this is a big deal, and this is why the words Macrohard are painted on the roof of the training cluster because that's what it's going to build.”

Tesla will be one of the companies to make AGI and probably the first to make it in humanoid/atom-shaping form

NEWS: The $59,990 Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD is no longer eligible for Tesla's referral program, effectively removing the $1k discount for new Tesla owners. It's now only eligible for loyalty benefits. The Cybertruck Premium AWD and Cyberbeast are still eligible for referral discounts/awards and loyalty benefits.

There are a few things that I think people still continue to overlook when it comes to @Tesla's humanoid robot and robotaxi advantages (among other things): Optimus: Optimus competitors in North America have little or no experience with in-house, large-scale manufacturing. While Tesla hasn't scaled a humanoid robot before, the company has a long history of scaling complex hardware, and Elon Musk likely knows more about manufacturing than anyone else on earth. That matters once Optimus moves from prototype stage to true volume production. Tesla plans to convert existing Model S/X factory space to produce Optimus V3, which reduces CapEx, execution risk, and overall production costs by using an existing facility. Factory space in the Bay Area comes at a premium, and Tesla’s engineering HQ and Optimus team are already located there. Keeping early production nearby will allow faster iteration and problem solving. Combined with Tesla’s vertical integration, this will give them a strong scaling advantage. Tesla will also have a real training advantage with their massive multi-billion data centers (Cortex 2, a 500MW data center at Giga Texas comes online in mid-2026), something competitors will have trouble keeping up with. Flashy demo videos are fine, but will these humanoid robot startups be able make millions of these things profitably? Tesla Cybercab: First, beyond Tesla’s cost, data, and network advantages, the company already operates hundreds of service centers across North America. Competitors like Waymo don’t have that. This existing infrastructure allows Tesla to scale robotaxi fleets without worrying about how to service large numbers of vehicles. Second, Waymo has zero in-house mass manufacturing capability, which means they'll have to outsource building their new gen-6 hardware robotaxis, putting them at an immediate cost disadvantage, even if they've been able to strip out a lot of cost vs gen-5. Waymo's lack of vertical integration will become a real issue in the near future. Waymo has more robotaxis on the road right now and operates in more locations, but I don't think that lead will last long.

I am proud to announce that I have successfully completed the world’s first USA coast to coast fully autonomous drive! I left the Tesla Diner in Los Angeles 2 days & 20 hours ago, and now have ended in Myrtle Beach, SC (2,732.4 miles) This was accomplished with Tesla FSD V14.2 with absolutely 0 disengagements of any kind even for all parking including at Tesla Superchargers.
