I’m sure many people have mixed feelings about this.
On the one hand, our soldiers deserve the utmost respect for serving their country in combat.
On the other hand, we must maintain ethical standards so as not to become the enemies we fight.
I hope the allegations are legitimate and free of political interference – and that due process is followed.
Regardless of the outcome in this case, I like this quote from Tony Abbott today:
“It’s wrong to judge the actions of men in mortal combat by the standards of ordinary civilian life.”
