Veneers destroy athletes. From UFC fighters to footballers. From Conor McGregor to Kevin De Bruyne. Everyone falls for this trap and nobody is talking about it. This is the science behind it: (scientific literature mentioned in thread) → Around the root of each tooth sits the periodontal ligament, a sensory organ packed with mechanoreceptors. Every time you bite, it fires signals up the trigeminal nerve, straight into the brainstem. That feed is what calibrates your balance, your posture, your jaw position, and your muscle tone in real time. This is the proprioceptive feedback loop. → The moment the enamel gets shaved and a veneer is bonded on top, that signal deteriorates. The brain stops reading the bite correctly, and the TMJ and masseter drift out of alignment. From there it cascades: → Bite misaligns → Masseter goes dormant → Jawbone demineralises → Fascia thickens and stiffens → Posture collapses to compensate The WHOLE chain locks up. And the epicranial fascia on your skull is one continuous sheet with the plantar fascia in your foot. So a corrupted signal at the teeth travels the entire chain and changes how the athlete moves, lands, and absorbs force. McGregor took it further and pulled his wisdom teeth too, which kills posterior support, severs more of the trigeminal feed, drops bone density, and even cuts neurogenesis. Which turned his chin to glass. Dental work destroys more primes than age ever has.

Later this afternoon and through the night we may see severe thunderstorms across New York City. If storms hit, go inside. Stay out of heavy rain and strong winds that could down trees or power lines. Stay vigilant for any flooding, especially if you live in a basement apartment or coastal community. Exercise caution while traveling and use public transit where possible. Never walk or drive through floodwaters. As always, look out for your neighbors.

This original artwork was used to create an episode of SpongeBob 😱 The show's earliest scenes were built entirely through traditional hand-drawn cell animation. This piece from Season 1, Episode 8 is exactly what fans saw on their screens in the early 2000s, and now it lives in this collector's hands. (via retrobuyandsell/IG)

Aaron Judge hasn't been diagnosed with TOS—the Yankees are hoping to rule it out via top specialist Dr. Gregory Pearl after his right rib bone bruise and shoulder symptoms. If it is TOS, pro baseball data (mostly pitchers) shows ~79% return to same/higher level ~9.5 months post-surgery and sustain play 3+ years. Performance declines often match normal aging. Position player cases are rarer and mixed on fully regaining elite form. PT is often first step. Decent odds for a strong return with expert care, but expect major missed time. Yankees proceeding carefully.

**The Mayo Clinic study (JAMA Network Open, 2025) found this association and points to heavy pesticide/herbicide use on golf courses as the likely culprit.** Golf courses apply chemicals at rates up to 15x higher per acre than many agricultural uses in some regions. These can leach into groundwater or spread via runoff, especially in vulnerable areas, increasing exposure for nearby residents. Yes, similar risks appear for people living near heavily sprayed crop fields. Multiple studies link residential proximity to agricultural pesticide use (e.g., paraquat, maneb/ziram) with higher Parkinson's odds through well water contamination, drift, or airborne exposure. Farm workers show even stronger links from direct contact. These are observational associations—causation isn't proven, and individual risk depends on many factors (genetics, exposure levels, etc.). Stay informed on local water quality and pesticide regs.

The MLBPA's proposal maintains the game's current financial structure with significant changes. The revenue-sharing proposal aims to increase money given to lower-revenue teams but forces them to direct that money to the major league team. Many more dollars going to players, too.
