Patrick was our most successful though. Patrick wore blue and that is the earliest color associated with him. Green came around in 1700’s because of political nationalism. He did NOT teach with a shamrock and did NOT use it as an analogy for the Trinity. The Lorica (Patricks Prayer) does not find it’s origin in Patrick. It comes centuries after Patrick. It’s found in a later text called Liber Hymnorum. And scholars attribute it to Saint Evin. Patrick did not drive snakes out of Ireland, they are not native here. The Pirates that kidnapped him were mixed crews from Gaul, they were not Irish. Patrick never had a “staff battle” atop a mountain with a druid We only have two surviving works of Patrick(we aren’t even sure he wrote anything beyond that) There are many fluffed up stories that surround Patricks life, as happens many Saints and historical figures. Don’t believe what you hear, we can know a decent amount about his life through history, no need for fantasy. It was exciting enough.
