À la suite de l’établissement des relations diplomatiques entre Israël et le Somaliland le 26 décembre 2025, et conformément aux engagements convenus lors de la visite du ministre des Affaires étrangères Gideon Sa’ar au Somaliland le mois dernier, le gouvernement de l’État d’Israël a accordé son agrément au premier ambassadeur du Somaliland en Israël, le Dr Mohamed Hagi. L’ambassadeur Dr Mohamed Hagi occupe actuellement le poste de conseiller du président du Somaliland et faisait partie du cercle restreint de responsables ayant œuvré, tout au long de l’année 2025, à la mise en place des relations entre Israël et le Somaliland. Un ambassadeur israélien auprès du Somaliland sera prochainement nommé — une nouvelle étape dans le renforcement des relations entre les deux pays. Par ailleurs, cette semaine, un programme de formation spécialisé est organisé en Israël par MASHAV, le Centre de coopération internationale du ministère israélien des Affaires étrangères, à l’intention de Somaliland Water Authority et du directeur général du ministère de l’Eau du Somaliland. Ce programme vise à soutenir la planification, le développement et la gestion du secteur de l’eau au Somaliland, tout en renforçant la coopération professionnelle entre les deux parties.
