It's been a dramatic - and noisy - start to the day in some southern parts with heavy downpours and thunderstorms over the last few hours.

Lots of misleading posts and stories since yesterday claiming #CloudSeeding was responsible for the Dubai storms. However, the severe weather was too widespread and was well forecast in advance. Computer models don’t factor in cloud-seeding bbc.co.uk/news/science-e…

End of an era. @PirateFM is a big part of why I got into broadcasting. I listened obsessively as a kid, they let me on-air on work experience, and my first job in radio was with its sister station in Bristol. A very special radio station. Good luck to all the Pirate Crew!

Snow on Thursday morning will mostly be over hills and mountains of N Wales & N Eng where significant disruption likely. Spreading into NI & S Scot later in day. At low levels a light covering is possible in places but it'll be sleety/wet snow or even rain. Simon

Storm Ingunn, named by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, will easily meet the criteria for explosive cyclogenesis as it passes to the north of the UK. Its central pressure is forecast to drop 40-50mb over 24 hours. @ben_rich explains more 👇

Happy Christmas from the 🎄 and me! Feeling very fortunate to have started the day with family. Will be ending it on your TV screen (if you’re up very, very late!).

We've seen some big Christmas contrasts: 13.6C at Exeter Airport made it the mildest Christmas Day since 2016... ...but snow in northern Scotland meant it was also a white Christmas!
