I have often ruminated about the same thing, and it definitely feels like a catch-22. If in his last 2 years he were go extra-constitutional and ignore these outrageous decisions from federal court judges and simply do what needs to be done, we would be on a rock solid foundation for decades to come.

2 years of "authoritarian" rule could clean up US cities, solve our fiscal problems, end unnecessary foreign entanglements - right the ship, let us become a boom country and an inspiration. That this doesn't happen is the slow-motion tragedy we are living through.
