Excited to share our latest work @CellReports! We show how PfHP1 phase separation is key to malaria virulence gene control. cell.com/cell-reports/f… Brilliant work by @MamatharaniV & the team. Thx @mahipal_ganji, @SamratLabMohali & Till Voss for a great collab! Thx @IISERPune.

Honoured to receive the Oration Award from the @ISPParasitology, one of the oldest scientific societies in India. Even more special as our entire lab attended and presented, and got two best poster prizes! Congratulations to the team. @IISERPune

30th Oct 2008 will always be a dark day in the history of Assam as it witnessed the most dastardly attack on its soil. As we mark this solemn occasion, I pay my tributes to all those who lost their lives the serial blasts and vow to never let Assam go back to those dark days.

- Safdarjung tomb (1700s) The lighting on the tomb in the evening makes it so so pretty. For dinner, you can go to INA afterwards for an authentic Kerala meal, or Lodhi Road/Khan market if you have a larger budget. (2/2)

I once went around with my friend @bioaurbehno which I ended up calling "500 years of tombs" - start with Qutub Minar (late 1100s) - Hauz Khas Fort (1300s) Break at Humayunpur for some excellent North Eastern food - Humayun's tomb (1500s) + Sundar nursery optional (1/2)

We embarked on a grand quest: build a histone methylation atlas for Plasmodium. Cloned all 10 SET-domain genes, codon-optimised, tested endlessly…yet the enzymes stayed silent. With this #SETback, we present a review: "Yet to SET: Pf HKMTs" pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10… @Disha_shah_25

🚨New preprint Alert🚨 PfHP1 phase separation is essential for malaria virulence gene control...linking chromatin biophysics to pathogenesis. A four-lab effort tackling a long-standing mystery…...now in the hands of the publication gods 😇. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Zubeen Garg was one of India's greatest musicians, undoubtedly. There were a lot tragedies in his personal life but he channelled all of that into his music. -Zubeen's younger sister Jongki Borthakur passed away in a tragic car accident in 2002. She and Zubeen were traveling were on their way to perform on stage when the car met with an accident. He was initially in the same car but got into a different car only minutes before the accident. He never recovered from that psychologically. -The passing away of his sister affected Zubeen throughout his life. As late as 2023, Zubeen broke down into tears while performing one of his late sister's song on stage. He turned an alcoholic after his sister's death in 2002. He was always hurting inside after that tragic accident. -Zubeen was primarily known for his Assamese, Bengali and Hindi songs but he sang in over 40 languages and dialects, including but not limited to Bishnupriya Manipuri, Adi, Boro, English, Goalpariya, Kannada, Karbi, Khasi, Malayalam, Marathi, Mising, Nepali, Odia, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Tiwa. -Zubeen was a multi-instrumentalist. He could play as many as 12 instruments, including anandalahari, dhol, dotara, drums, guitar, harmonica, harmonium, mandolin, keyboard and tabla. The Streets Will Never Forget Him 🙏🙏

If heterochromatin is really a liquid-like condensate, why is it not spherical? We investigated whether mechanical interactions between a condensate and a fiber network can explain the variety of morphologies seen in phase-separated nuclear compartments. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

@talk2anuradha After joining any research institute, the curriculum and the rigor is same for everyone. Who will do better research? That's not really subject to which rank did they get when they joined the Institute.
