Warm birthday greetings to Shri Anurag Arya, 🍀🎉💐#IPS RR-2013, Senior Superintendent of Police, #Bareilly. Born on December 10, 1987, in Chhaprauli village of Baghpat district, Arya grew up in a family of doctors and overcame early academic hurdles with determination. BSc (Hons) Physics graduate from Banaras Hindu University, he briefly joined the Indian Military Academy before shifting his focus to the Civil Services. He worked with the Reserve Bank of India in Kanpur before clearing the UPSC exam in his first attempt in 2013 with an All India Rank of 163. Across Uttar Pradesh, Arya has held key policing assignments as SP in Amethi, Balrampur, Mau, Pratapgarh and Azamgarh, earning a reputation for firmness and clarity of action. His tenure in Mau was particularly noted for a systematic crackdown on the Mukhtar Ansari network, including stringent action under the Gangsters Act and demolition of illegal assets. As SSP Bareilly, Arya has emphasised modern, technology driven policing strengthening cybercrime capabilities, introducing cyber desks in every police station and leading awareness campaigns on digital safety. Known for his no nonsense approach to criminals and rioters, he has paired strict enforcement with strong community engagement, especially through initiatives under Mission Shakti. His distinguished service has earned him several honours, including DGP Commendation Discs in Silver, Gold and Platinum categories, and the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for Excellent Service (2024). Respected for his integrity, calm leadership and people-centric policing, Arya continues to stand out as one of the state’s most dynamic district police chiefs.
