Not all CEOs have to be gamers, but non-gamers and people who clearly don't give a shit about video games as an actual medium are why the industry has been pivoting toward live service garbage and other bad models. The enshittification doesn't come from nowhere.

For those saying character redesigns and censorship are “not a big deal,” here’s the obvious question: If it’s not a big deal, why does it keep needing to be changed? You can’t have it both ways. You can’t say it’s irrelevant, then turn around and insist designs need to be covered up, toned down, sanitized, or “updated for modern audiences.” If it truly didn’t matter, nobody would be so obsessed with changing it. That’s the part people keep ignoring. The issue was never whether people are “overreacting.” The issue is that certain types of design are always treated like they need to be corrected, and then fans are mocked for noticing the pattern. So yes, it matters... Because if it didn’t, they’d leave it alone.

Highguard is another example of why I tire of online discourse regarding gaming showcases. The rise of "anti-fans" is huge. Back in the day if something wasnt for you, youfocused on the stuff you like. Now people put as much energy into hating something as they do what they like.
