@AngusTPaterson It actually is unbelievably over for you. Try to get out again.

Well, I just returned to Australia after 15 years in Germany, what I've observed is a country markedly more modern, agile, and digitised than where I'd been.
If you think the public service is bloated in Australia, relative to Deutschland at least, I can tell you it is not.

When I was in Australia last December, I found it impossible to transact with any business where there weren't latent government price controls or subsidies of some kind. I came to the realization that with the public sector growing about 5x faster than the private sector, Australia was well on the way to an effectively government run economy, communism by stealth. I dug deeper - the point of no return occurred in about 2013. caseyhandmer.wordpress.com/2026/04/16/aus…

@delillostan I'm a hikikomori, so axial flux motors sometimes. Once I had a long discussion with a girl about her aesthetic theory of Ayesha Erotica. Tapas place.

@TheNerdsQuest Probably would've felt pretty good to be hit by the car tbh. Touched by a woman...

I've been thinking back on a time when I was maybe 25 or so. I was 5 years into almost complete social isolation. I was walking outside when this girl almost hit me with her car. The look on her face conveyed how bad she felt. I was so surprised by it, she cared enough about me to feel that way about almost hitting me with her car? It was surprising and kind of flattering to be honest. I was so used to thinking that I was worthless in the eyes of others, not in my own eyes, but that is what I came to expect by default from other people. I don’t fully understand how I got to that point emotionally, I knew logically it wasn’t true, so I wonder if it was maybe more of a natural response to the isolation that I lived in for so long.

@Dylan_Morri Surely there's some value to pokayokery here. We wouldn't invent imperial if it weren't already around, it introduces obvious new sources of error! This itself is a design flaw.
