I've commonly seen Canadian gun owners expressing concerns about, as well as extremist anti-gun zealots threatening, that a day might come where the RCMP was sent door-to-door in search of newly prohibited firearms. So, let's take a closer look at this idea... 1/17

@YakkStack Hailing a big load like that typically doesn't come without some pretty in-depth planning and permits... Somebody messed up big-time with this one.

@DonDavies Promised? Entitled, much? Were you promised a Stanley Cup this year too? The message I got from Carney was he was the best man for the job and no deal was better than a bad deal. Canadians still believe in these two concepts.

A year ago (when Mr Carney took office), we were told Canada’s growth would be 1.8%. In October it was downgraded to 1.4%. This January it fell to 1.1%. Now the Bank of Canada says it will go lower still. When will Canadians start seeing the economic growth we were promised?

@Safety_Canada Wow, still less than half of just the number of one single previously registered model affected by this ban... This endeavor is just sounding more and more impossible to follow through with.

After two months of the Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program for individuals, more than 47,000 prohibited firearms have been declared across Canada. Deadline to submit your declaration is March 31. See the provincial and territorial breakdown here: canada.ca/en/public-safe…

@SenatorDurbin Sounds like they should've taken the initial offers for paid flights home... Since they didn't, deportation rates should be stepped up, so they don't spend time in custody.

I think it's based on the official announced number being up to 32k weeks ago, then Gary might've let slip in the HOC that they were up another 10k or so since then. From there, if we just assume a similar rate until the end of the declaration period, it would easily end up around that 60~65k

@BlaineFCalkins Where did the 60-65 thousand guns number come from? To date they have some 30,000 guns declared. There are over 100,000 registered AR15s in Canada. None of these numbers add up to 60-65 thousand. 🤷‍♂️

Liberal gun grab has now BALLOONED to $1 BILLION. With roughly 60,000-65,000 firearms expected to be compensated for or turned in, that's around $16,000 per firearm. And what does the government have to show for it? A costly program delivering virtually no real public safety benefit for Canadians.

It's a low experience thing, where a shitty driver sees something ahead, fixates on it, then inadvertently steers right at it. Being so ridiculously common there, it's probably somewhat related to low IQ. But you see similar examples from better developed countries, where somebody will lose control on ice or something, then end up hitting the only obstacle in the ditch within a mile, because once they panic they lock their vision onto it and can't help themselves but to steer right into it.

Imagine that... Right up there with having gas utilities making it more likely to have a gas leak. Or having running water making it more likely to drown in water. Or maybe even having electricity making it more likely to be shocked or electrocuted... Talk about coming to the table with absolutely ridiculous arguments.

The medical evidence suggests that if you keep a gun in the home for self-defence, you're more likely to shoot yourself in the foot or the head (ie. accident or suicide). Sure would be nice if proposed legislation actually followed science.

@Polysesouvient The data never should've been a crime though, we've always had free access to things like gunsmithing books and such. The act of illegally making guns is what actually got this person caught. That data thing just basically added what should be an unconstitutional extra charge.

Examples of #BillC21 working to counter illegal guns - in this case the 3D printing of firearms. The charge "possession of computer data pertaining to a firearm" is only possible because of #C21. The bill created a specific, targeted offence for the digital blueprints themselves, closing a legal loophole and giving police a direct tool to address the possession of gun-making files before a single part is even printed. Note that the #GunLobby fiercely opposed this bill.

@chalackd @SeanFraserMP I have no issues, as an Albertan & a Veteran, using a heavier hand against any “Freedom” Convoy activists hijacking the Alberta flag & the Maple Leaf. See, in my opinion, part of the convoy problem was groupthink selfishness & conspiracy theorists against public health.

Communities deserve protection against hate. The Combatting Hate Act protects religious freedom and increases penalties for hate-motivated crimes targeting victims based on their identity. We must do more to protect our communities—this Act is part of the path ahead. 🇨🇦
