I write cool books about wooden ships in space and depressed people just trying to survive.
You should read them. They have pretty covers and are on KU so really, there's no excuse not to start reading today!
You should read my short stories!
No need to have read my novels. My personal favourite is Where Kids Are Monsters which is more of a sci-fantasy genre mashup than the others.

@NatalieKelda@timmckay52 Im poor 😂 I would never spend £9 on a novella so wouldn’t for the audio.
Your genre has a really good following though and your books are a good niche - I think your people will be happy to get a good product and a good book. I hope you had some replies now!
@cmserpell@timmckay52 Good to know! I guess I'm not as precious about my credits. It helps I read slowly and also read on Spotify so I almost always have credits or hours to spare on either platform.
Question for anyone who's used ACX: How long did it take to get auditions for a royalty share?
It's only been a week so I assume it might just take time but I've not had *any* yet and it's making me nervous.
(Cosy fantasy, sapphic romance, British narrator)
@NatalieKelda@timmckay52 I would just about use a credit for that :) now audible went up a pound it will be harder but yeh if I really wanted to read it I would for that length :)
@cmserpell@timmckay52 Oh really? All my favourite audio reads recently have been novellas 😅
My book is 52k so it's technically a novel and should be 5.5-6 hours long but maybe that's still too short for many.
@cmserpell@joeclark_343@timmckay52 Oh no he'd HATE a move. He doesn't like my mum as she accidentally stepped on his paw with slippers on 2½ years ago and he's never forgot. Every time she visits and pulls the slippers out, he glares at them🤣
@joeclark_343@timmckay52 I checked and it'll still be £600 at minimum(closer to £1k in reality) and I absolutely don't have that kind of money unless I sell my home and move back to my mum 😂
@NatalieKelda@timmckay52 I actually wont ever use an audible credit on a novella myself… so this is interesting. I would read one maybe but def not use an £8.99 credit. Def worth messaging narrators you like - i found the search function a bit annoying as i had to select a type of accent and didnt mind
@timmckay52 A few hours?!
I read somewhere nobody wants a short book because the assumption is it'll not sell as well(which is ridiculous, novellas are SO popular right now) I'm not sure if I should message narrators I like based on their samples?
@NatalieKelda I had a few quite quickly - many hadn’t read my requirements and had wrong accent etc so it took work sifting. Then some didnt actually want royalty share. But i def got lots within a few hours.
My book plate stickers came and...I messed up the size 😭
I can't afford to order new ones so these will just have to do. They'll be available on my site soon for around £1 each(there will be bulk discounts)
