Building what's next. Built an AI-driven renovation company from zero in LA. Operator, not observer. 📍Los Angeles

Our dilemma is this - we must figure out how to love a God that allows treacherous things and we must figure out how the same God loves the treacherous us.

There is a gang in Echo Park that has probably caused 7 figures in property damage just since we've been operating over there (not to mention all the shootings, etc.) I am 100% certain the police know who they are and where they live (everyone in the neighborhood knows!) and yet they are allowed to keep doing it year after year after year Infuriating

Gang tagging means broken lives. A lot of boys, recruited right out of middle school. Boys who are going to get imprisoned instead of educated. A lot of babies born and then picked up by the foster care system. Parts of our Council District are covered in gang tagging. When I talk to people at community events, I can feel how desensitized we've become. We cannot afford to be.

Update on the Ukrainian refugee family we helped get situated in LA: As you may recall, the husband, Oleh, had run a successful construction business in Ukraine before coming here. But he was a business guy who had never really worked with his hands. Bc he needed to help feed his family, he taught himself to do handyman-type work and I got him a job at a PM company. When that didn't work out, he and his wife, Maria (who had previously run a successful interior design business) started a little handyman biz of their own. I helped publicize it on here and they did good work and, eventually, so much business came in that they hired people. Now, I am delighted to announce that Oleh has obtained his contractor's license and they have launched a full-fledged construction company available to do rehabs, ADU construction, etc. in the LA area. If you have a project you need help with, please visit olma-construction.com to learn more. (Before anyone starts with the "why didn't they stay in their country?", I would invite you to consider what *you* would do after spending a few nights with your three young sons huddled in a bomb shelter.)

@garrytan It allowed me to build a platform of 6 SaaS products I am really proud of. Never would have had the confidence to attempt something like this without GStack. Seriously, thank you.

I'm proud of what I released with GStack and I hope you'll give it a shot. It's become an essential piece of thousands of people's arsenals. It's not a panacea. It is not the "God Mode" of Claude Code. It's a tool. It's just how I use it. You can use it to.

GStack is now v1.0.0. And yes, I swapped using LOC for logical SLOC, and the wild thing is the functional increase in productivity per day didn't go down from my stats from 2013 to this year. They went up. github.com/garrytan/gstack

Was moving so fast in Claude Code until about 4 days ago and now it's a slog and fight to get it to hold context and not take shortcuts. Is this all because of Opus 4.7, @bcherny, @amorriscode, @trq212, and @ClaudeDevs?

@realEstateTrent I built my own “quickbooks” a month ago. Never looked back. And it creates the reports, and tracks KPIs, relevant to my business.

Need your help Claude experts! I just opened the app to see my entire last week of work gone. Hours and hours of thinking and strategy. The thread reverted back to last Wednesday. Any idea how to access the info that appears lost?

Today we're launching a rebuilt version of Claude Code on desktop. The app has been redesigned for the ground up to make it easier than ever to parallelize work with Claude. I haven't opened an IDE or terminal in weeks. Excited for you all to give it a shot!

Running adversarial review between two terminals until they agree on an action plan. Wild to feel like I have a room full of engineers at my disposal.

@rohanpaul_ai A single person moving like a corporation used to require either a lot of capital or a lot of luck. Now it requires knowing which tools to use and when to get out of the way. Interesting.

This is just a start, there will be many vibe-coded billion-dollar company. A.I. can collapse the staffing needs of a fast-growing company. Matthew Gallagher used AI+ to strip away the layers of labor that normally sit between demand and delivery. Code, ad creative, website copy, analytics, customer support triage, scheduling, even parts of his personal workflow were pushed into software, which meant the company could grow without building the usual managerial middle. This story is such a powerful example of what A.I. does best right now - reducing coordination costs so sharply that a single can move like a large corporate.

The biggest lie in housing: “You can’t build beautiful apartments without blowing the budget.” You can. West LA. Just delivered. Soft tones, quality materials, and quiet luxury. Not the result of spending more — But executing more with less.

This is how I grade neighborhoods in Los Angeles county for apartment building management/investment. A — Regularly get tenants with several hundred thousand dollars in their accounts & perfect credit. This segment generally has much better things to do then to make your life miserable: Brentwood Pacific Palisades Malibu Beverly Hills Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Beach Los Feliz Silver Lake parts of Santa Monica Parts of Sherman Oaks Parts of Studio City B — Still get tenants with very good credit and financials. Mostly low maintenance personalities. Echo Park Atwater Village Eagle Rock Mt Washington Glendale Burbank parts of West Adams Highland Park Culver City Palms Mar Vista Torrance Redondo Beach C — Regularly takes 10 applications to find 1 decent one. Starting to get into tougher tenancies if you’re not careful. Mid City Lemeirt Park USC area Korea town East Hollywood North Hollywood Van Nuys Chinatown Hawthorne Gardena D & F — no idea how you run this without Section 8 and iron fist property management. Most of South LA Watts Boyle Heights Westlake/Macarthur Park Pico Union Compton Parts of Pacoima Part of Panorama City Parts of Arleta

Mind completely blown with Gstack office hours and plan review. Crystallized so much. I know I sound obsessed but this is such a valuable set of tools to sit on top of your code.
