A year ago, the word out of Ottawa was panicked, hysterical voices who said Mark Carney didn't know what the heck he was doing. He's got a temper! He makes people wear suits, gasp! He doesn't respect govt bureaucratic protocols, good heavens! Canadians will hate him for it! They said. A year on, Mark Carney is one of the most popular Prime Ministers in Canadian history hitting numbers that only Jean Chretien ever reached. Canadians, and the whole world, view him as the strongest most compelling leader of the democratic world, to the point everybody is talking about "The Carney Doctrine". A year on, his pundit critics are humbled. And Pierre Poilievre is desperately trying to make us think he's a mature, serious thinker who reads actual books. Mark Carney is going to be Prime Minister for a long time.

The first game in history to introduce a level editor was Lode Runner (1983), developed by Doug Smith. It came with 150 built-in levels, but the level editor gave it essentially endless replay value since you could create as many new levels as you wanted. I sometimes show 80s games to my 15-year-old nephew to see his reaction; whether he likes them or if they hold his attention. Some simpler ones fail to catch his interest, but after I showed him Lode Runner and demonstrated how just one level works, he played the next few levels by himself. I could almost see my younger self in him, getting hooked almost instantly. Lode Runner gets quite hard in the later stages but eases you in - the first few levels are a walk in the park. The “easy to learn, hard to master” concept has always resonated with me, and Lode Runner fits that category perfectly. You want to be challenged in a game, but also need an early success experience. This game has all that, timeless concept, a level editor, and excellent gameplay. No wonder it also resonates with much younger generations of gamers.
