@overand Thank you Geo! Mote is absolutely on its way to release. I apologize for being sparse on updates. There is a ton of work to do and there will be more updates. I appreciate your interest and your patience 🙏

@computerender I don't know why this post has so few comments, but the *video* makes it clear that people love this, and many are hoping for some sort of a release or update. Regardless of if that happens, what you've created is beautiful.

🦠Watch @computerender's first public talk on Mote: an interactive ecosystem simulation! Mote uses a custom GPU-based physics engine to model hundreds of thousands of organisms, leading to fascinating emergent phenomena: a sandbox that is part game, part research. Link below⬇️

@jsuarez congrats! how high do you imagine this could go before the speed of the envs will be fundamentally limiting?

We finally hit the 10m/s training perf target for PufferLib 4.0. Breakout solved in 13 seconds. The forward pass is two custom kernels, matmuls, and zero other operations. RL will be fast!

@yacinelearning @DanAdvantage to be fair, i think those agents lack of progress was mainly due to my own botched implementation of the algorithm. but gradients are helpful if you can get good ones.

Šárka and Ondrěj have done incredible work building EbSynth, creating an entire image and video editor from scratch in webgl! Their attention to detail and the care they’ve taken at every aspect of its design is inspiring.

@VVarrent Awesome to hear :) It still has quite a ways to go before it’ll be ready for public use, but stay tuned for more updates and possible early access!

@computerender @computerender do you have a time frame around the release of this project. I’m and overly hype to get my hands on it.

@DanAdvantage Good question! I’ve played around a bit with the library “burn”. It’s a tensor library that uses wgpu, so it runs on any gpu and can share all the data with the sim on gpu without extra transfers or copying.

@computerender Nice. Thank you, Peter. When it comes to performing rl on these environments, how should the stack be extended? I'm not too familiar with the rust ecosystem

SENSEI can also guide exploration in combination with task rewards. When playing Pokémon Red from pixels, we achieve superior performance to Dreamer (pure task rewards) and Plan2Explore. Only SENSEI manages to obtain the first Gym Badge within 2M steps of exploration 🥇 7/8

Biblically accurate medusa Gorgona. My physics engine is at the stage where playing with it delays development.

@ZoldenGames wow 800 is huge! so on average your dispatches are about 4 μs! the 300 fps may be limited purely by dispatch overhead at that level.

@computerender There are about 40 kernels to do 1 step. So, about 800 dispatches per frame. But this number means little, some kernels are heavy, some are negligible. The simulation on the video runs at 300 fps on 3090, but it has almost nothing to compute.

Everything is sorted out with the ropes in my simulation. Here's spaghetti domino effect for your entertainment. In the game the ropes will play many roles. Belt drives and tracks for machines, bridges, character's arsenal to get things and to get to places, 2d bag and so on.
