@3YearLetterman DUUUUDDDEEE. I just read that in the original English Bible.
English

One of the oldest habits in religious controversy is to confuse exclusivist truth claims with personal animosity. Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, and Latter-day Saints have all claimed at various times to possess something uniquely true. As Chesterton noted, a man may believe another is mistaken without hating him. The distinction is important, and often forgotten in theological disputes.
“These people think my church is wrong” and “these people hate me” are not the same sentence. If they were, Christian history would be one long hate crime.
English

@BillyBob1776now @ldsofficial I just want to say I don’t hate you, nor any other Christians. I have respect for Orthodox Christians and wish you the best.
English

This is what @ldsofficial (Mormons) are actually like. Mean, nasty, haters of all Christianity, and subversive cult members. They hate all Christians. Especially the Orthodox. Which is quite the honor.
"Mormonism began on April 6, 1830 in Fayette, New York, as an alleged "restoration" of the original Apostolic Church. Its originator, Joseph Smith, Jr., asserted that he had seen two celestial "personages" in 1820 who claimed to be God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. These "personages" told Smith that all existing churches--including the Orthodox Church--were false, and that he had been chosen to "restore" the one true Church."
Who caused all of this? Protestant Reformation.

I've kind of enjoyed Marsch over the years. But if Deuce says he's Benedict Arnold, I'm with Deuce.

@PTSPentax Christ Himself taught that people who reject the scriptures won’t be persuaded “though one rose from the dead” (Luke 16:31).

@Manhattva Goose: ‘Careful, Maverick. If you sing any louder they’re gonna make you captain of the USMNT.’
English

@jchasedavis Agreed. Christians spend a lot of time talking about the cross and resurrection, but the ascension is what places Christ at the right hand of the Father as our living King and Advocate.
English

@catholic_comedy Chesterton would have appreciated this.
Christianity is simple enough for a peasant to live by and deep enough for a philosopher to drown in. Any religion that survives centuries tends to possess both qualities: clarity at the center and mystery at the edges.
English

@EvilBobby69 Samuel Johnson observed that some arguments are beneath refutation. This may be one of them. Nevertheless, I applaud the courage required to stake one’s case on a third-grade pun.

Serious historical inquiry begins where slogans end. A man confident in his evidence cites sources, dates, documents, and context. A man short on evidence tends to rely on labels. “Pedophile, conman, false Jesus” may generate applause from allies, but it is not a substitute for historical argument.
