I really don't get the hype about skills. They are just docs. Just write docs and ship them inside your packages.

might start a space tonight to talk through the different interfaces for how agents can communicate with an api… api calls directly, straight cli, cli + skills, mcp, message protocols, other alternatives

@paulgb i’m still having trouble steel manning this! on machines that i install my cli, i can bring along a skills.md / or ask the user to install the skills somehow
it’s a feels like a very similar action to registering an mcp sever

im still confused about why we're using mcp servers. what is fundamentally different about these than having your agent call an api and having json returned?

My official top 3 NYC pancake rankings:
1. Golden Diner - tbh it’s not close these guys are Usain Bolt in the pancake game, they’re looking back rn
2. Lords - they have a sticky toffee pudding pancake that’s kinda similar to Golden Diner actually, lords have mercy (kinda funny)
3. Salt’s Cure - very different style thin crispy oat pancakes and they don’t let you add syrup which is kinda whack but they’re still fire
