Why are some protocols targeted and others aren’t? Uniswap. Curve. Aave. Liquity… None of them are attractive targets for this kind of attacks, because compromising their signers can’t drain the protocol. Drift’s multisig could introduce new collateral. So the 6month plan was to: Compromise the signers → drain everything. Multisigs are fine for operational tasks, but they’re not fine when they control collateral introduction or core protocol upgrades. You can’t train your team to avoid a 6-month intelligence operation with $1M in real deposits and in-person meetings. But you can architect your protocol so it doesn’t matter if they succeed. @lindyhan @snj_peters In good designs you'll find time-locks for any change during runtime. Others don't even have any attack surface of that kind - only circuit breakers or expedited settlement.

@snj_peters No way. It's the same risk. The root of the off chain infra exploit was a compromised access which could equally happen to any vault curator / asset allocation mechanism.

Yield Vaults > Yield Stablecoins The Resolv hack wasn’t a smart contract exploit. It was an attack on the off-chain infrastructure required to authorize USR minting. A yield vault doesn’t need that infrastructure. You deposit collateral. You earn yield. Everything happens on-chain. A yield stablecoin needs authorized signers, peg defense logic, and permissioned minting because it has to maintain the illusion that the token is worth exactly $1. That off-chain complexity is the attack surface. $25M proves it. The stablecoin wrapper doesn’t add yield. It adds risk. Go to @xerberus to understand the risk in your portfolio today.

Imagine being able to spin up a risk tranched yield market on top of any lending vault in minutes. Not a new pool. Not a new protocol. Just programmable risk tranching on top of existing yield. That’s what Knox enables.

Call me a pessimist, but I am somehow dreading the efforts necessary to satisfy EU bureaucracy. Time will tell, whether EU-Inc will actually make founding in the EU more attractive. Having experienced how simple the setup of a Delaware Inc. is, I believe that the EU needs to overcome some habits.
